Save the Children International (SCI), a non-profit humanitarian organization focused on child welfare, is recruiting one (1) Communications Officer (Matola).

Purpose

The Communications Officer is responsible for implementing the communication plan of the Nutrir para Aprender project, supporting all branding and promotion activities, ensuring compliance with donor regulations and the approved communication plan.

They will also proactively carry out public outreach actions as required by donors and provide reports on all actions and responses received. Organizing events, press conferences, and interviews will be under their responsibility, as well as producing fact sheets, brochures, or other high-quality materials for the project, to be reviewed and approved by project leadership in accordance with the donor-approved communication plan.

The holder of this position will create and manage a knowledge management platform, ensuring full integration with other relevant knowledge management platforms, including a standard electronic shared file archiving system for program use.

  • Only candidates of Mozambican nationality will be considered for subsequent stages of the recruitment and selection process.

  • In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the job holder must work outside the normal job profile and may vary working hours accordingly.

Qualifications

  • Higher Education in Communication, Information Technology, Administration, Management, Development, or related field.

Experience and Skills

Essential

  • Minimum of eight years of professional experience in a similar role in the area of communication or media.

  • Strong commitment to fighting fraud and mismanagement, and clear commitment to Save the Children's protection standards.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as excellent interpersonal skills in English and Portuguese.

  • Experience leading effective interactions in English with US-based teams.

  • Ability to work under pressure and availability to work flexible hours in case of major emergencies.

  • Availability and willingness to travel frequently.

  • Proven experience in multidisciplinary team collaboration.

Desirable

  • Ability and availability to change work practices and hours when necessary, including travel on short notice and for extended periods.

  • Advanced computer and/or knowledge management skills.

  • Previous experience with US government donors.
