Main Job Responsibilities
The Environmental and Social Risk Technician will play a dynamic role of supervision, technical analysis and articulation, with the following duties:
Risk Management and Monitoring: Support the implementation of the environmental and of the institution, monitoring the impacts associated with guaranteed operations and supported activities.
Eligibility Analysis and Due Diligence: Carry out environmental and social eligibility analyzes of operations submitted by partner financial institutions, actively participating in technical monitoring visits and due diligence processes.
Legal Compliance and Safeguards: Ensure that all operations comply with scrupulously comply with Mozambican environmental and social legislation, as well as the sustainability guidelines of international partners and multilateral organizations.
Mitigation and Technical Reporting: Support the design and monitoring of E&S risk mitigation measures, preparing reports, technical opinions and information to support senior management decision-making.
Articulation Strategic: Maintain fluid and professional communication with partner financial institutions, regulatory entities in the environmental sector, external consultants and other stakeholders.
Internal Awareness: Support training and internal awareness-raising actions on sustainability policies and risk management mechanisms.
Candidate Profile and Requirements Admission
Academic Qualifications: Degree in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management, Sustainability, Social Sciences, Natural Resource Management or related field.
Additional Training: Certifications or specializations in ESG, sustainability, environmental risk management and social security or environmental and social safeguards (e.g. IFC performance standards, World Bank safeguards) will be considered a strong competitive advantage.
Minimum Experience Required: Minimum of 2 to 4 years of proven practical experience in environmental and social risk management, sustainability or ESG.
Valuation Factors: Previous experience in environmental and social impact assessment processes (ESIA), field monitoring, E&S audits and direct work with financial institutions, multilateral agencies or environmental consultancy companies.
