Main Responsibilities of the Role

Accountant 2 will perform highly responsible tasks within the financial department, with the following duties:

• Accounting Registration and Processing: Process and post the daily transactions of the delegation and its subunits on the ground, ensuring the double entry method (double-entry bookkeeping).

• Monthly Reconciliations and Closing: Perform detailed account reconciliations and actively support monthly and annual financial closing processes.

• Treasury and Cash Management: Process cash payments, perform daily cash verification and reconciliation, and execute bank payments through payment platforms online banking or offline transfers.

• Obligations Control: Monitor pending advances to suppliers or teams, open purchase orders and other financial obligations of the institution.

• Technical Supervision and Archive: Supervise and provide technical guidance to junior members of the financial team, simultaneously ensuring the organization of the physical and digital archive of files accounting.

• Reports and Analysis: Prepare financial progress reports and provide technical support in budget analysis activities.

Candidate Profile and Admission Requirements

• Academic Qualifications: University Degree in Accounting, Finance or other areas similar.

• Professional Experience: Minimum of 3 years of proven practical experience in similar accounting functions (experience in the NGO sector or international organizations is an advantage).

• Technical Knowledge: Solid command of general accounting principles, bank reconciliations and advanced proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel.

• Languages: Excellent command of English and Portuguese (both oral communication and technical writing, given the international reporting environment).

• Personal Attributes: High level of integrity, confidentiality, sense of responsibility, methodical approach, ability to work independently, strong team spirit and deep respect for the ICRC's humanitarian values.
