Job for Medical Advisor

We are looking for an experienced public health professional to support the health program in Mozambique.

MEDICAL ADVISOR, Mozambique (based in Chiúre District, Cabo Delgado)

Contract Type

Cabo Delgado Province, Chiure (with regular travel to Cabo Delgado and Nampula)

Program in Mozambique

The program strengthens the health system and improves health outcomes in Cabo Delgado Province. Current projects address emergency pediatric care, cholera, cervical cancer, adolescent health (including HIV), and emergency humanitarian aid. SolidarMed is a respected partner of the Ministry of Health. Innovation, research and policy dialogue are cross-cutting to all projects. The Medical Advisor works under the supervision of the national director.

Your tasks and responsibilities:

  • Medical and public health supervision and contribution to strategic development.

  • Directly manage a team of 4 to 5 project managers, including training, HR management, performance evaluations, recruitment and onboarding.

  • Mentoring and capacity building of project teams and implementing partners.

  • Ensure project objectives and deliverables are achieved in a timely manner.

  • Project cycle management, proposal development, reporting and review of annual operational plans.

  • Ensure projects are designed according to scientific evidence.

  • Lead the formulation of innovative approaches for new projects and expansion opportunities.

  • Contribute to knowledge management and research, in collaboration with our research unit.

  • Support fundraising at national, regional, and occasionally international levels.

  • Represent SolidarMed Mozambique locally and nationally in networks and technical working groups.

  • Collaboration and capacity building with local stakeholders and implementation partners, especially the Ministry of

  • Health, to ensure all activities comply with requirements and regulations.

Your profile

  • General practitioner or specialist with at least 5 years of clinical experience (MPH, DTM or similar is an advantage)

  • Experience in public health in East or Southern Africa.

  • Proven experience in planning, implementing, and monitoring health programs.

  • Solid management and leadership experience (projects, people, budgets)

  • Good written and oral communication in Portuguese (or proficiency in French, Spanish, or Italian and willingness/ability to learn Portuguese) and English.

  • Ability to solve problems pragmatically. Conceptual, strategic, and proactive vision.

  • Interest in evidence generation, evidence application, research, innovation, and networking.

  • Excellent interpersonal and intercultural skills. Sensitivity to cultural and social issues. Collaborative and team-oriented working style

Valid driver's license
