The Ressano Garcia Thermal Power Plant (CTRG), a Mozambican company that owns and operates a 175 MW (gross) gas-fired power plant located in Ressano Garcia, Moamba District, Maputo Province, is recruiting a Factory Manager for its staff. The position reports directly to the CEO and requires strategic leadership, operational vision, and full responsibility for plant management, ensuring safe, reliable, and profitable operation in line with production targets and asset integrity.

What the Role Involves

As Factory Manager, you will be primarily responsible for leading the power plant, fostering a culture of operational excellence, safety, and integrity. Your responsibilities include:

Health, Safety, Environment and Quality

  • Ensure the plant maintains a zero-accident record (TRIFR < 0.5), implementing risk mitigation measures before project start.

  • Conduct continuous risk assessments and ensure compliance with ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, and 31000 standards (under implementation).

Strategy and Leadership

  • Define the plant's annual objectives, aligned with corporate strategy and goals.

  • Promote an organizational culture based on operational excellence, integrity, and safety.

  • Manage and engage internal and external stakeholders, improving processes and policies.

Financial and Commercial Management

  • Assume full responsibility for the plant, ensuring annual revenues and strict cost control.

  • Oversee the execution of OPEX and CAPEX budgets.

  • Manage the commercial relationship with EDM and ensure full compliance with the Power Purchase Agreement.

  • Manage supplier contracts.

Operational Excellence and Asset Integrity

  • Ensure that the Operations and Maintenance departments work in synergy to maximize availability and minimize forced outages.

  • Propose investment plans for infrastructure and major thermal overhauls.

  • Prepare monthly reports and deliver regular presentations to senior management.

Who We Are Looking For

We are seeking a professional with a solid educational background and proven experience in power generation. Requirements include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (mandatory).

  • Master's in Engineering Management or MBA (considered an advantage).

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in power generation, with at least 7 years in a supervisory role or as a senior engineer.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).

  • Fluency in English and Portuguese (spoken, read, and written).
