What the role involves
The Field Supervisor will be the operational arm of the project, ensuring that the installation of complete turnkey solar-powered irrigation systems (SPIS) and the establishment of hydroponic greenhouses for farmer associations proceed with quality, on schedule, and in compliance with technical and environmental standards. Key responsibilities include:
Support the project coordinator in supervising the activities of the subcontractor, ensuring that each step – from assembling solar panels to installing irrigation systems – is executed according to the technical plan.
Lead the training of farmers for the effective and safe use and maintenance of SPIS, promoting technical autonomy and long-term sustainability.
Coordinate update meetings with local government and other partners, ensuring alignment and transparency in project progress.
Participate in regular monitoring missions and gather community feedback, ensuring local voices are heard and integrated into decisions.
Prepare activity reports within deadlines, with accurate data and analyses that support project management.
Conduct social and environmental risk screening and ensure the implementation of the environmental management plan, with mitigation measures for all actions classified as category B.
Where the work makes an impact
Massangena is a district with enormous agricultural potential, but also significant challenges in access to water and energy. By installing solar irrigation systems and hydroponic greenhouses, this project not only increases the productivity of farmer associations, but also reduces dependence on fossil fuels, promotes adaptation to climate change, and strengthens local food security. The Field Supervisor will be at the center of this transformation, working side by side with communities and ensuring that each investment generates lasting results.
