Wiwanana Foundation is recruiting 10 Counselors for the humanitarian project PROMAMO+ – Protection of People Affected by Conflict, operating in the districts of Macomia and Mocímboa da Praia, in Cabo Delgado province. This is an opportunity for professionals living in local communities who have experience in humanitarian settings and want to contribute directly to the protection, psychosocial support, and recovery of people affected by conflict.

Wiwanana Foundation is a Mozambican non-profit organization working to strengthen informed and active community participation, promote good governance, and support public health and well-being through partnerships, community empowerment, and advocacy.

About the role

Under the PROMAMO+ project, funded by the Eastern and Southern Africa Humanitarian Fund Mozambique and implemented in partnership with Young Africa, the Counselors will support communities facing high risks of abuse, exploitation, violence, neglect, family separation, and deprivation of basic rights. The intervention focuses on children, women, people with disabilities, internally displaced people, returnees, and members of host communities.

The project aims to save lives and strengthen protection mechanisms through direct support, distribution of livelihood kits, and emergency capacity-building for youth and caregivers over a period of 6 months.

Candidate profile

  • Relevant experience in humanitarian, emergency, or community protection settings

  • Knowledge of child protection, mental health, and psychosocial support

  • Ability to work toward targets and respond effectively in demanding environments

  • Fluency in Portuguese; knowledge of local languages will be an advantage

  • Strong communication, active listening, and teamwork skills

  • Local residency will be considered an asset, depending on the vacancy profile
