The selected professional will be part of the project team "RiberAgro" (Alliance for Agroforestry, water and biodiversity), financed by the Generalitat Valenciana.

Context of the "RiberAgro" Project

The main objective of the project is to strengthen the water, food and environmental resilience of riverside communities in the districts of Matutuíne and Boane, in southern Mozambique. The actions are focused on promoting sustainable agroforestry systems, the ecological restoration of riverbanks and the strengthening of Natural Resource Management Committees (CGRN) through Nature-Based Solutions (SbN).

Main Responsibilities and Functions

The technician will be responsible for bringing interventions to life in the field, being responsible for: Extension: Provide regular and local technical assistance to local farmer associations.

• Practical Training: Promote good agricultural practices, regenerative agriculture, soil conservation, agricultural hydraulics techniques and efficient water management.

• Agroforestry Systems: Support the implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of Agroforestry Systems (SAF).

• Inputs and Sustainable Production: Guide and support producers in the application of biofertilizers and improved ecological production techniques.

• Planning and Monitoring: Organize the production calendar and planning of agricultural campaigns, in addition to collecting field data for the preparation of monthly activity reports.

• Articulation Community: Work in close coordination with the CGRN to ensure the sustainable management of natural resources.

Profile, Qualifications and Required Requirements

We are looking for a professional with a community facilitator profile, autonomy and ability to lead training in the field:

• Academic Training: Technical or higher education completed in Agronomy, Agriculture, Rural Extensionor similar areas.

• Proven Experience: Minimum of 03 years of experience in agricultural rural extension, community work and technical field assistance to farmers.

• Concrete Technical Skills: Practical knowledge in regenerative agriculture, soil conservation, water management (agricultural hydraulics area) and facilitation of practical training.

• Mandatory Logistics and Legal Requirements:

  • Motorcycle driving license (mandatory).

  • Availability to make daily trips by motorbike to isolated rural communities.

  • Commitment to reside in the district of Matutuíne during the period project execution.

• Language Skills: Mandatory fluency in Portuguese and Changana (essential for community dialogue).

• IT: Proficiency from the user's perspective of the general applications of the Microsoft Office, E-mail and Internet.

Contractual Conditions Offered

• Main Work Location: Matutuíne District (Maputo Province).

• Contract Duration: 18 months (with possibility of renewal based on performance and funds), including a probationary period of 3 months.

• Start Date: Immediate incorporation.

• Reporting Line: You will report directly to the Project Manager and the Local Coordinator.
