About the Role
As an Arts Teacher (PYP), you will be responsible for planning and implementing learning experiences engaging, relevant and significant in the field of visual arts, aligned with the philosophy of the IB (International Baccalaureate) and the mission of the Aga Khan Academy. Your work will inspire students' curiosity, inquiry and self-expression, promoting each child's artistic progress through continuous monitoring and personalized interventions.

You will collaborate with a diverse and pluralistic professional community, actively participating in the life of the Academy — inside and outside school hours. From leading theater productions to integrating the Aga Khan Strands into the curriculum, your contribution will be critical to training young ethical leaders ready to transform society.
Principal Responsibilities
Plan and implement learning activities that promote inquiry, creativity and critical thinking in the arts, including leading school theater productions.
Differentiate teaching to accommodate different skills and styles according to program outcomes.
Teach the Primary Years Program (PYP) to Early Years and Junior School students.
Integrate the Aga Khan Strands into teaching and learning programs.
Assess, record, track and report student progress using diverse learning strategies monitoring.
Create welcoming and interactive learning environments through appropriate management of resources, displays and student work.
Take responsibility for the pastoral care of students by maintaining individual records.
Communicate relevant program information to all stakeholders.
Actively participate in the life of the Academy by contributing to enrichment activities, school events and experiences residential centers.
Demonstrate professionalism and participate in the Appraisal for Growth process as a member of the professional learning community.
Participate in PYP professional development and stay current on IB philosophy and practices.
Contribute to self-study, assessments, and ongoing implementation of the PYP in the school.
Practice reflection and commitment to innovation in education
Keep up to date with best professional practices in arts teaching and learning.
Contribute to PYP reports, parent-teacher conferences and unit reflections.
Work closely with families as partners in learning, sharing documentation and involving them in the educational journey.
Work collaboratively with PYP colleagues in planning meetings, reflections and ongoing program development.

Mandatory Requirements
Degree in the field of Education or similar.
Previous IB PYP Early Years experience or strong familiarity with PYP principles (further training possible).
Professional Teaching Qualification.
Knowledge and understanding of education in Africa and beyond, as well as commitment to IB programs.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and colleagues in a diverse and pluralistic society.
Team spirit and willingness to develop skills and attitudes in other adults, including colleagues.
Commitment to inspiring and motivating students for personal and academic growth.
Own initiative, ability to propose ideas and act proactively.
Positive attitude and flexibility to thrive in an environment dynamic.
Experience in implementing an arts curriculum in the early years.
Value
Master of Education.
Understanding and experience of education and educational standards beyond Mozambique.
Intercultural appreciation and sensitivity, capable of enriching the educational experiences of students students.
Technical and Personal Skills
Familiarity and comfortable with information technologies.
Excellent command of English and, preferably, Portuguese – both written and oral.
