Ensure full cooperation with Supervisors and the project consortium team in the proper implementation of the project, provide all technical support and supervision of activities in the area of community mobilization and participation in the locations where activities are implemented in the MHPSS and GBV component, creating synergies with other projects in the same thematic area in the Province.
Main tasks and responsibilities
Map the needs of people with disabilities in target communities and identify vulnerable cases, ensuring proper referral and follow-up with local authorities;
Create and maintain, in coordination with MEAL, a database of people with disabilities and their specific needs, ensuring documentation and follow-up of cases;
Implement GBV activities with a victim-centered approach and promote psychosocial support for people with disabilities, IDPs, and other vulnerable groups;
Contribute to strengthening community protection systems and manage psychosocial and occupational therapy activities;
Plan, monitor, and control project activities, including preparing periodic implementation, monitoring, and evaluation reports;
Organize and follow up on training in the area of protection of people with disabilities in the provinces of Nampula and Cabo Delgado;
Coordinate and supervise the functioning of the case management system, as well as community, educational, recreational, and sports activities;
Participate in community meetings, technical meetings (Disability, MHPSS), and coordination with AVSI teams and partners;
Support the execution of activities according to the project schedule and budget;
Monitor project activities through institutional tools;
Support the coordinator, deputy coordinator, and the technical, administrative, and logistics team;
Maintain good relationships with the project team, donors, and partners;
Contribute to the smooth functioning of the AVSI structure in the area of operation;
Adhere to schedules, demonstrate availability for overtime when necessary, and ensure beneficiaries receive adequate information on safeguarding policies, Code of Conduct, and PSEA.
Essential Requirements
Bachelor's/Postgraduate degree in Psychology, Neuropsychology, or another relevant discipline obtained from a reputable educational institution;
Minimum two (2) years of work experience in multicultural environments and dealing with children, adolescents, and caregivers, preferably in an NGO;
Knowledge of spoken and written English (basic/intermediate level);
Required skills and experiences
Skills in assisting people with post-traumatic stress disorders;
Skills in assisting people with special needs;
Knowledge of updated psychological techniques adapted to the local reality;
Ability to work in a team and to relate to and respect the local community.
Experience in facilitation and community mobilization, including a good understanding of community policies and traditional networks;
Ability to effectively articulate and coordinate with government, local and international NGOs, and other actors;
Knowledge of other local languages is an asset;
Effective and in-depth knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook packages;
Ability to work autonomously and proactively;
Ability and willingness to travel regularly to the field;
Good organizational and planning skills, and flexibility;
High degree of responsibility, initiative, and ability to work under pressure;
Attention to detail and meeting deadlines;
Team spirit, with good interpersonal and communication skills;
Identification with AVSI's methodological principles and values;
Immediate availability.
