Main Responsibilities and Scope of Activity

The Senior Legal Consultant will play a central role in the legal governance and strategic advice of the firm, acting on the following fronts:

• Commercial and Corporate Advice: Structure and review international commercial contracts, mergers, acquisitions, complex corporate restructurings and highly relevant shareholder agreements.

• Banking and Regulatory Operations: Provide specialized consultancy in financing operations, financial guarantees, regulatory compliance and foreign exchange processes with the Bank of Mozambique.

• Strategic Litigation and Arbitration: Lead the definition of legal theses for civil disputes, large-scale commercial, tax and labor, monitoring processes in judicial instances and arbitration courts.

• Labor Law Opinions: Issue advanced legal opinions on hiring foreign labor, benefit plans, labor restructuring and representation in mediations and disciplinary processes.

• Mentoring and Leadership: Supervise the work of junior and senior consultants, ensuring technical rigor and compliance with the standards of excellence of the DLA Piper Africa network.

Candidate Profile and Mandatory Requirements

Professional and Academic Credentials:

• Education: Degree in Law (mandatory requirement) from a duly qualified law school recognized.

• Professional Registration: Be actively registered with the Mozambican Bar Association (OAM) as a full lawyer (required).

• Minimum Experience: Minimum of 7 years of proven real practical experience in the practice of law or consultancy in senior positions, ideally within a law firm structured.

• Languages: Fluency in English and Portuguese (speaking and written), with full command of the corporate technical-legal vocabulary necessary to interact with global corporations.

Technical and Behavioral Skills:

• Robust command of matters linked to Mozambican Commercial, Banking, Litigation and Labor Law.

• Proficiency in the use of the essential tools of the Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).

• High analytical capacity, interpretative rigor, discipline, proactivity and strong team spirit.

• Proven ability to work under high levels of pressure, meet strict contractual deadlines and act with total autonomy and minimal supervision.
