This is an opportunity for professionals with experience in humanitarian response to contribute directly to the protection of conflict-affected communities, with a focus on children, women, people with disabilities, internally displaced people, returnees, and host families.

About the project

Wiwanana Foundation is a Mozambican non-profit organization that works to strengthen informed and active community participation, promote good governance, and support health and well-being through partnerships, advocacy, and community empowerment.

Under the PROMAMO+ project, funded by the Eastern and Southern Africa Humanitarian Fund Mozambique and implemented in partnership with Young Africa, the organization aims to respond to urgent protection needs in areas severely affected by conflict. The intervention seeks to strengthen protection mechanisms, restore essential services, and support the recovery of community life with greater autonomy.

Role and key responsibilities

The District Project Officers will play a central role in the local implementation of the activities planned for the two intervention districts.

  • Support the implementation of the protection actions planned under the project.

  • Work closely with affected communities, including groups in situations of greater vulnerability.

  • Contribute to support activities, distribution of livelihood kits, and emergency training actions for youth and caregivers.

  • Ensure monitoring of project targets in demanding operational contexts.

  • Collaborate with teams, partners, and local structures to strengthen the humanitarian response.

Desired profile

The organization is looking for candidates with a practical profile, a sense of responsibility, and availability to work in a humanitarian context.

  • Relevant experience in humanitarian or emergency contexts.

  • Knowledge of child protection, mental health, and psychosocial support.

  • Ability to work toward objectives and respond to challenging contexts.

  • Fluency in Portuguese; knowledge of local languages will be an advantage.

  • Good interpersonal communication and teamwork skills.
