GiveDirectly opens vacancy for Internal Audit Field Manager in Mozambique

GiveDirectly, a cutting-edge international non-governmental organization (NGO) focused on providing unconditional cash transfers directly to vulnerable families, announced the opening of the selection process for the position of Internal Audit Field Manager. The position will have as its initial place of work the City of Maputo, with frequent trips to the field in other provinces and, subsequently, the fixed base may be transferred to any other province where there are active projects (such as the province of Nampula).

The core of this role is based on total operational independence and confidentiality. The Internal Audit team operates strictly anonymously, with communications completely protected by a security barrier (firewall) in relation to the organization's program implementation teams.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The selected professional will report directly to the Internal Audit Program Manager and lead a team of Associate Field Managers (IA AFMs) and Field Officers (IA FOs), dividing their actions into the following blocks strategic:

A. Project Design and Risk Mitigation (25%)
  • Lead the team in conducting community risk mapping prior to launching new projects.

  • Design and conduct partner data quality checks to ensure accuracy in the enrollment process.

  • Develop operational work plans to monitor the team's daily and monthly performance against Stipulated KPIs.

  • Evaluate implementation tools and structure risk registers at national and project level.

B. Risk Monitoring and Case Management (50%)
  • Lead the investigation of cases classified as high risk, managing the process from initial contact with the beneficiary to closure, following case management standards.

  • Conduct periodic community-based fraud intelligence actions, including transect walks and customer feedback exercises. recipients.

  • Proactively detect risks associated with safeguarding, fraud, abuse, and undeclared conflicts of interest.

  • Create performance dashboards and reports, examine the quality of program team data against organizational standards, and suggest ongoing improvements.

C. Management of Teams and Complementary Activities (25%)
  • Build and nurture an ethical and healthy work culture, aligned with the organization's values of integrity.

  • Identify the team's career growth needs, support the recruitment and integration of new members and apply disciplinary or mentoring measures when necessary.

  • Listen with support teams (Human Resources, Finance and Administration) and support response to crisis events in the field (such as government lockdowns or coordinated fraud).

Candidate Profile and Required Requirements

  • Formal Education: Bachelor's degree (BSc or BBA) completed in related areas, such as Humanitarian Response, Community Development, Social Service, Management, Auditing, Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) or related areas.

  • Professional Experience: Minimum of 5 years of practical experience in similar functions (risk management, protection and safeguarding beneficiaries, preventing fraud or monitoring the distribution of humanitarian aid) with vulnerable communities.

  • Operational Context: Experience working in humanitarian and complex environments, coordinating with security personnel and liaising with Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and local NGOs.

  • Technological Skills: Digital literacy to operate with smartphones, tablets and computers. Proficiency in using Google Suite, Microsoft Excel, Salesforce and field data collection tools.

  • Language Skills: Professional fluency in writing and speaking English, in addition to command of local languages ​​in Mozambique.

  • Personal Characteristics: High standards of honesty, integrity and empathy; high emotional intelligence to dialogue with communities in vulnerable situations and strong decision-making capacity based on reference data.

Preference Factors (Differentials):
  • Total availability to take up residence and live in any district of Nampula Province or other Mozambican provinces.

  • Valid professional certifications in Project Management, Criminology and Investigations, Risk Management or equivalent.
