Vacancy for Jurist/Consultant Lawyer

REPSSI – Regional Psychosocial Support Initiative – is recruiting a Jurist/Consultant Lawyer to support its transition to a national organization in Maputo, Mozambique. This is a unique opportunity for a legal professional with experience in organizational and labor matters to contribute to a strategic decentralization process, ensuring legal security for the institution and its employees.

Context of the Opportunity

REPSSI was founded in Zimbabwe in 2002 and operates in 13 countries in East and Southern Africa. In Mozambique, it operated as a regional subsidiary until obtaining, in 2024, authorization from the Ministry of Justice and Religious and Constitutional Affairs to act as a Regional Psychosocial Support Initiative Association. The organization maintains links with the regional structure, but seeks greater national autonomy.

The REPSSI National Council recognizes that this transition process involves complex legal responsibilities, especially regarding the rights of workers recruited within the scope of regional operationalization. Therefore, it is looking for a jurist to analyze the legal implications of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) proposed by the regional headquarters and produce recommendations that safeguard both parties.

Main Responsibilities

• Analyze the legal implications of the MOA proposed by the regional headquarters and prepare recommendations that protect the rights of workers employed before the agreement came into effect.

• Examine the legal nature and the consequences of the assignment of employment contracts, depending on their type.

• Evaluate the legal implications and responsibilities of the institution and workers, considering the nature of the contracts, and recommend their renewal in light of the Labor Law in Mozambique.

• Produce bilingual reports (Portuguese and English) that document the analyzes and recommendations.

Profile of Candidate

We are looking for a professional with a solid background in Law, experience in organizational and labor legal advice, and in-depth knowledge of Mozambican legislation. The ideal candidate must have critical analysis skills, excellent written communication and fluency in Portuguese and English.
