First Capital Bank, one of the fastest growing banks in Mozambique and part of a regional group present in Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi and Botswana, is strengthening its governance team. We are looking for a Senior Governance Technician for our headquarters in Maputo, on a full-time, in-person basis.

We want someone who can help consolidate our control environment and ensure that all governance practices are aligned with the regulator's requirements, the Group's policies and the best international standards. What the role involves

As a Senior Governance Technician, you will be the pillar of the implementation and maintenance of the institutional governance framework. Your main responsibilities include:

  • Governance and Frameworks: Support the creation, review and approval of policies, standards, procedures and frameworks, ensuring alignment with the regulator and the Group. Ensure version control and archiving of regulatory documentation.

  • Committee Management: Coordinate the activities of governance and risk committees – prepare agendas, packs, minutes and monitor the completion of actions within deadlines. Keep the terms of reference (ToRs) updated.

  • Regulatory Compliance and Governance: Monitor regulatory requirements, support inspections, internal and external audits, and ensure robust evidence of governance and documentary compliance.

  • Reporting and Monitoring: Produce periodic reports for Management Committees and Board Committees, prepare dashboards to monitor policies, pending actions and performance indicators governance.

  • Document Management: Keep the central policy repository up to date, standardize templates and formats, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

The profile that makes sense

We are looking for professionals with:

  • Higher education in Law, Management, Finance, Auditing, Accounting or similar areas.

  • Minimum experience of 3 to 5 years in Governance, Risk, Compliance, Audit, Internal Control or similar functions in the financial sector.

  • Knowledge of the Mozambican banking regulatory environment and familiarity with Banco de Moçambique requirements and international internal control standards.

  • Command with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio) and document management systems.

  • High sense of organization, attention to detail, analytical and coordination skills of multiple actions.

  • Good written and verbal communication, ability to work with senior stakeholders and a high level of confidentiality and professional ethics.

Relevant certifications in governance or document management will be valued.
