Senior Accountant (m/f) – CTRG, Ressano Garcia, Mozambique

Central Térmica de Ressano Garcia (CTRG), a Mozambican company that operates a 175 MW (gross) gas-fired power plant in the Moamba District, Maputo Province, is looking for a Senior Accountant to join its permanent staff, reporting to the Financial Supervisor. What the role involves

The Senior Accountant will be the guardian of the accuracy and integrity of financial records of the CTRG, ensuring that the financial statements comply with Mozambican Tax Legislation and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). Responsibilities include:

• Prepare and present complete financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flows and changes in equity) in accordance with IFRS.

• Perform monthly, quarterly and annual closing accurately and punctually.

• Perform and review reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.

• Maintain the General Ledger, ensuring that all accounting entries are duly recorded and documented.

• Analyze financial data and present analyzes of deviations from budgets and forecasts (forecasts).

• Ensure compliance with Mozambican tax legislation, legal requirements and internal policies.

• Support external and internal audits, being the main point of contact and providing documentation and explanations.

• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals and accruals.

• Coordinate with other departments to ensure adequate financial reporting and correct cost allocation.

• Correctly apply accounting standards and stay up to date on tax and IFRS changes.

• Monitor internal controls and recommend improvements to increase financial accuracy and efficiency, including projects ad hoc to improve reporting processes.

We are looking for a professional with solid training and proven experience. Essential Requirements:

• Degree in Accounting, Auditing or Finance.

• Professional certification (ACCA, CIMA or FMVA) or progress towards completion will be an advantage.

• At least 5 years of accounting experience, with a focus on financial, analytical (cost) accounting and reporting.

• In-depth knowledge of tax laws and regulations Mozambicans, including compliance, submissions and reporting requirements.

• Familiarity with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

• Experience in a Big Four auditing firm (preferred).

• Mozambican nationality and fluency in writing and speaking in English and Portuguese.
