Function Summary
The Aga Khan Academy in Maputo is looking for a Director of Admissions to lead the entire process of attracting and integrating students, managing everything from recruitment to enrollment, including the administration of financial aid. This professional will be the main link between the Academy and families, ensuring that the institution's mission and values are communicated in a clear and inspiring way. Main Responsibilities
1. Connecting with Parents and Families
- Communicate the Academy's mission and values, ensuring high levels of satisfaction among parents and students.
- Act as a trusted advisor, guiding families throughout their school journey.
2. Student Admission
- Recruit and select students for day and residential programs, both from Mozambique and abroad, with a special focus on remote areas.
- Coordinate the Talent Identification Test (TID) process in partnership with AKDN agencies.
3. Financial Aid Management
- Manage the scholarship and discount award process in accordance with institutional guidelines.
4. External Relations
- Establish and maintain contacts with immigration agencies, consulates and the Ministry of Education.
5. Marketing and Communication
- Lead marketing strategies to promote the Academy to the local and international community.
6. Strategic Planning
- Develop and implement the annual admissions plan, defining recruitment and enrollment goals.
- Create actions to increase the quantity and quality of applications.
7. Data Management and Reports
- Monitor performance indicators and prepare periodic reports on applications, admissions and conversion rates.
Candidate Profile
- Complete higher education in a relevant field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in admissions, recruitment, institutional development or similar areas.
- Fluent command of English and Portuguese (written and spoken).
- Deep understanding of Mozambican culture, traditions and values.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in a diverse and pluralistic environment.
- Proven ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to engage external stakeholders and win them over to the school’s vision.
- Ability to train and develop colleagues to better serve parents and students.
- Understanding and alignment with His Highness the Aga Khan's vision for the Academies.
Valued Knowledge
- Familiarity with international curricula, such as International Baccalaureate (IB) or Cambridge.
- Knowledge of the African context and residential school programs.
