The Aga Khan Foundation is recruiting three Field Facilitators to support community work in Cabo Delgado, with a focus on strengthening the link between school and community. This role is central to energizing the Village Development Committees (VDCs), promoting girls' school retention, and supporting local actions to prevent gender-based violence.
What this role involves
On a daily basis, the selected person will work closely with the VDCs, helping improve their organization, activity planning, and priority setting in communities. The work includes supporting initiatives that strengthen the participation of parents and guardians, promote sustainable local solutions, and bring schools closer to families.
Identify, revitalize, and support VDCs, with special attention to girls' school retention.
Support community planning and coordination with State institutions, civil society organizations, and influential local actors.
Promote initiatives such as schools that are closer to the community and communities that are more engaged with the school.
Identify collaboration opportunities with other projects, schools, and organizations in Montepuez district and nearby areas.
Where the work creates impact
This vacancy has a direct impact on school retention, girls' protection, and strengthening the community response to social challenges. The role also contributes to actions for the prevention of and response to gender-based violence, always in coordination with the project team and the relevant entities.
Strengthen the link between school and community to reduce school dropout.
Support community strategies aimed at girls' academic success.
Facilitate training sessions with girls and boys on gender equity and GBV prevention.
Support the identification, referral, and follow-up of cases, in coordination with focal points and relevant services.
Contribute to the collection, documentation, and systematization of data, good practices, lessons learned, and stories of change.
Profile suited to the role
The vacancy is intended for professionals with practical experience in community mobilization, work with local structures, and implementation of projects related to education, social protection, health, or justice. The organization values candidates with mid-level technical training in social fields and related areas; a degree in social fields is an advantage.
Training in social work, gender, early childhood education, public and maternal-child health, environmental management, community development, or related fields.
Experience in civil society organizations or in community and school projects.
Experience in community assessments, group facilitation, interviews, community literacy, and local discussions.
Motorcycle driving license.
Experience in capacity building for community-based organizations.
Fluency in Portuguese and proficiency in local languages of Cabo Delgado.
Residence in Montepuez district is an advantage.
