Framework and Strategic Impact
The role of the Construction Inspector is fundamental to the success of projects. This position was created to ensure permanent technical supervision and excellence, ensuring that each phase of the work — from the foundation to the final finish — is carried out in strict accordance with the approved projects, technical specifications, national standards and good construction practices.
The impact of your role goes beyond simple supervision. It will be the technical focal point that ensures the integrity of the works, the safety of workers and communities, and strict compliance with schedules and budgets. Its actions directly contribute to the creation of infrastructures that will transform the daily lives of the district's inhabitants.
Operational Scope: Three Dynamic Work Fronts
The role is operationally challenging, covering three distinct work fronts in the Palma District, which will require regular travel and effective time management. The diversity of projects will ensure that your day-to-day life is varied and intellectually stimulating.
Completion of Community Infrastructures
Will be responsible for monitoring the completion of 7 essential infrastructures, including nkutanos, a community market and community fishing councils. Located in Palma-Sede, Senga, Maganja and Mondlane, these works are expected to last 4 months.
Construction of the Olumbe–Mondlane Road
Will supervise the paving of a 2.8 km road, including drainage work, installation of culverts, expansion joints and road signs. A critical infrastructure project with an estimated duration of 12 months.
Estrada Palma 2 – Quionga Bypass Section – Palma Health Center
It will accompany the final phase of semi-rigid paving, involving drainage systems, curbstones and paving.
Core Responsibilities and Measurable Deliverables
Your day-to-day life will be guided by action and responsibility. He will be Gapi's technical reference in the works, with responsibilities that include:
- Direct Technical Supervision: Closely monitor the execution in all areas: foundations, concrete, reinforcement, masonry, roofing, finishes, hydraulic and sanitary installations.
- Strict Quality Control: Validate materials, monitor laboratory tests and ensure compliance with the highest construction standards.
- Road Project Management: Monitor earthworks, pavement layers, drainage systems and signage in road works.
- Financial Documentation and Analysis: Prepare detailed weekly and monthly reports, validate periodic measurements and support the payment certification process.
- Risk and Compliance Management: Identify non-conformities, issue technical opinions, analyze change requests and monitor the warranty period until full resolution.
- Coordination and Communication: Actively participate in construction meetings and interact proactively with contractors, local communities and authorities.
Requirements and Profile of the Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a professional with a solid technical foundation and a genuine passion for fieldwork. Practical experience in supervising or supervising works is essential, as is the ability to work autonomously in sometimes challenging contexts.
Training and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is the preferred requirement.
- Bachelor's degree, Higher Technical Course or Intermediate Technician in Civil Construction, Communication Routes or similar area, with relevant practical experience on site.
- Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in inspection, technical supervision or management of civil construction works and/or road infrastructure.
- Experience in construction or rehabilitation of public/community buildings and/or road construction or paving is crucial.
- Work experience in rural, remote or difficult-to-access contexts will be highly valued.
Technical Skills and Abilities
- Ability to read and interpret projects, technical drawings and specifications.
- Knowledge of ANE standard specifications for road works.
- Mastery of MS Excel and MS Word for preparing reports and controlling measurements.
- Basic knowledge of AutoCAD and/or MS Project.
- Solid understanding of quality control, Safety, Health and Environment (HSE).
- Knowledge of FIDIC standards will be an important differentiator.
- Experience in projects financed by international organizations or in the oil and gas sector is valued.
- Category B driving license will be an advantage.
Behavioral Skills
- Integrity, autonomy and proactiveness in fieldwork.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Resilience and total availability for frequent travel.
Gapi Conditions and Support
Gapi values and supports its professionals. Conditions include:
- Location: District of Palma, Cabo Delgado.
- Modality: Part-time, with regular travel between work sites.
- Contract: Initial duration of 12 months, with the possibility of renewal.
- Operational Support: Gapi provides means of transport, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), laptop and access to the Checkmob platform.
- Salary: Negotiable, depending on experience and qualifications.
