Comusanas Association – Healthy and Developed Communities, founded in 2000 and headquartered inBeira City, is a national non-profit organization dedicated to the well-being of vulnerable groups. Under the RISE Project, to be implemented in the districts ofNhamatanda and Dondo (Sofala), Comusanas is recruiting 6 Community Facilitators (3 per district) to work incommunity health,educationand WASH.

Role Impact

As a Community Facilitator, you will be the link between the community and the project, driving lasting change in water, sanitation, and hygiene. Your work saves lives: it reduces diarrheal diseases, improves child nutrition, and strengthens local resilience.

Detailed Responsibilities

  • Education and Awareness:Conduct participatory sessions on handwashing, safe water treatment, and proper latrine use, adapting language to the local culture.
  • Community Mobilization:Facilitate health meetings and campaigns, encouraging the active participation of all groups – women, youth, and the elderly.
  • Institutional Strengthening:Support the training and monitoring of water and sanitation committees, ensuring the sustainability of infrastructure.
  • Monitoring and Reporting:Collect field data, maintain detailed records of sessions and participants, and report progress and identified challenges to the supervisor.
  • Participatory Approaches:Implement community-based behavior change methodologies such as PHAST and CLTS.
  • Waste Management:Promote good sanitation practices and solid waste management, including composting and basic recycling.

Ideal Profile

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completed secondary education (Grade 12).
  • Proven experience in community mobilization, health promotion, or social development.
  • Strong communication and group facilitation skills.
  • Basic knowledge of water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH).
  • Availability for frequent travel within the assigned district.
  • Fluency in Portuguese; knowledge of the local language (Sena, Ndau) is highly desirable.

Differentiators

  • Training in Community Health, Health Promotion, or Community Development.
  • Prior experience in WASH programs funded by international partners.
  • Ability to collect and report data using simple tools (paper, Excel, ODK).
  • Integrity, dynamism, and cultural sensitivity.

Working Conditions

Full-time, on-site position based in the districts of Dondo or Nhamatanda, province ofSofala. Negotiable salary, in line with the social sector. The contract is project-based, with the possibility of renewal.
