Food for the Hungry (FH Association) is recruiting three Development Facilitators to work in the communities of Nhamatanda, Dondo and Gorongosa, in Mozambique. What the role involves

The Development Facilitator will be the link between FH and the communities, ensuring that the program’s initiatives are relevant, participatory and sustainable. Key responsibilities include:

  • Facilitate meaningful conversations with beneficiaries to understand their needs, challenges and aspirations, promoting an environment of active listening and trust.

  • Co-create and deliver solutions that build resilience, involving children and caregivers in the design process to ensure their voices are heard.

  • Perform translation of correspondence between English, Portuguese and local languages of the province of Sofala, ensuring the correct interpretation and adaptation of content.

  • Mobilize the community for active participation and ownership of initiatives, nurturing emerging leaders who can continue the work.

  • Collect and monitor data on program performance and impact, using the M&E system to inform decisions and identify areas for improvement.

  • Establish partnerships with local organizations, government entities and other interested parties to expand reach and the effectiveness of the program.

This is a strategic role that goes beyond the execution of tasks: the facilitator is an agent of systemic transformation. By aligning value exchanges between FH and beneficiaries, it ensures that everyone understands the benefits of involvement, especially children and their caregivers. The work focuses on creating assets – an essential approach to sustainable development – ​​and promoting entrepreneurship, productive learning and physical and mental well-being. Each action contributes to communities becoming more autonomous and resilient.

The ideal profile

We are looking for professionals with proven experience and alignment with FH's culture. Requirements include:

  • Minimum experience of 3 to 5 yearsin community facilitation, community development, relationship management or stakeholder engagement, preferably in NGOs or development projects.

  • Essential experience in Asset Creation(asset creation).

  • Knowledge in Agribusiness, Farming, Agrarian Economicsor areas similar.

  • Minimum secondary educationin related areas (agriculture, livestock, business, community development or similar). A degree is an advantage.

  • Proficiency in Portuguese and English (spoken and written). Knowledge of local Sofala languages is a plus.

We also value additional experience in productive learning and physical and mental well-being.
