Core Mission and Role Impact

The hired professional will be the vital link between the project's engineering and the reality of the family farmer. The central mission is to ensure the implementation and technical monitoring of SPOM Project activities at district level. This goes far beyond an operational task; it is a strategic function of knowledge transfer and community empowerment.

Your day-to-day life will be marked by concrete actions aimed at the adoption of Agro-Forestry Systems (SAF) and the implementation of Sustainable Agricultural Land Management (SALM) practices. You will lead efforts to restore land and promote regenerative agriculture, ensuring that each practice implemented meets the rigorous technical and sustainability standards defined by the project. Its impact will be measured in improving productivity, the resilience of ecosystems and the economic autonomy of the communities served.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

The responsibilities are detailed and require a proactive professional. Among the central tasks, the following stand out:

• SAF Implementation: Execute the planned Agro-Forestry Systems on the ground, including monitoring nurseries, seedling distribution logistics and organizing community planting activities.
• Promotion of Sustainable Practices: Actively support producers in adopting SALM techniques, regenerative agriculture, soil conservation and nature-based solutions (NbS).
• Technical Assistance and Training: Provide continuous technical assistance to beneficiary farmers. Organize and facilitate effective hands-on training and field demonstrations.
• Monitoring and Data: Monitor agricultural plots through regular monitoring visits. Use digital forms, GPS and georeferencing tools to accurately collect technical data.
• Reports and Coordination: Prepare periodic technical reports on the progress of activities. Collaborate closely with the Deputy Agricultural Coordinator and coordinate with community leaders, District Services and other local institutions.
• Support for Voluntary Markets: Support monitoring activities related to the requirements of voluntary carbon markets (Verra), connecting local action to global climate finance mechanisms.

Essential Requirements and Profile of the Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a professional with solid training and proven experience in rural contexts. The ideal candidate has:

• Academic Training: Degree in Rural Development, Agronomy, Social Sciences or related areas, obtained from an educational institution of recognized merit.
• Proven Experience: Professional ties in community/rural extension, social mobilization or implementation of development projects on the ground.
• Technical Knowledge: Solid command of participatory methodologies and community facilitation techniques. Good monitoring and reporting practices, including basic data collection and management.
• Language Skills: Fluency in Portuguese and knowledge of local languages in the intervention area is a significant competitive advantage.
• Personal Skills: Availability to travel frequently in rural areas. Ability to work autonomously and proactively. High level of responsibility, initiative and ability to work efficiently under pressure.
• Professional Attitude: Meticulous attention to detail, ability to meet strict deadlines, team spirit and good interpersonal and communication skills.
