A Johanniter International Assistance is recruiting a Finance Assistant to support the financial and administrative management of operations in Cabo Delgado. This is a practical and central role for the smooth running of the organization in the field, with a focus on accurate transaction recording, payment processing, document control, and compliance with internal standards and requirements.
What this role involves day to day
The Finance Assistant works closely with the Finance team to ensure that supplier payments, accounting entries, and financial records are handled accurately and in line with organizational procedures. Key responsibilities include recording transactions in the SUN template, updating cash and bank books, preparing payment vouchers, and checking supporting documentation before releasing funds.
Record financial transactions accurately and on time.
Prepare and process supplier payments based on validated invoices.
Confirm signatures, dates, budget codes, and required documents in each file.
Organize, scan, and file invoices, receipts, and other financial documents.
Support the maintenance of control over staff advances and their reconciliations.
Assist with banking matters and the monitoring of transfers and cheques when necessary.

The work also requires coordination with logistics, program, administration, and partner teams, helping keep payment flows organized and documentation ready for review, audit, and reporting. The role also includes participation in project opening, review, and closing meetings to support partner-related financial matters.

Profile suited to the role
This opportunity is suitable for professionals with a background in Administration, Accounting, or Management, who already have relevant experience in NGO or INGO environments. It may also suit candidates with internship experience in an international organization, provided they bring strong execution skills, document accuracy, and familiarity with operational finance tasks.
Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Management.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in financial management and administration in an NGO/INGO, or at least 6 months of internship in an international organization.
Proficiency in Excel, Word, and computerized accounting systems.
Knowledge of the SUN system or other accounting software will be an advantage.
