Food for the Hungry (FH Association) is recruiting 1 Grants Accountant to support the financial management of grants and ensure strict compliance with donor requirements. FH is an international non-governmental organization working alongside communities living in extreme poverty, with programs in areas such as Agriculture, Health, Education, Gender, and Water. The work is guided by Christian principles, high ethical standards, and a strong commitment to transparency.
Role overview
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the financial implementation of grants, ensuring that funds are used properly, efficiently, and in line with funding agreements. This role requires consistent budget control, close attention to detail, strong analytical ability, and close coordination with program teams to ensure alignment between activity implementation and financial reporting.
Key responsibilities
Oversee the financial management of assigned grants in compliance with donor regulations and requirements.
Track budgets, expenditures, and remaining balances, ensuring proper use of funds within approved limits.
Monitor financial performance against donor budgets and flag variances or risks to management.
Prepare and process grant-related financial transactions, including invoices, payments, and reimbursements.
Prepare and submit accurate, timely financial reports in accordance with funding agreements.
Ensure correct cost allocation and maintain well-organized supporting documentation for all expenditures.
Work closely with program teams to reconcile narrative and financial reports.
Support grant closeout, including final financial reporting and audit processes.
Profile and requirements
The organization is seeking a candidate with a genuine Christian commitment, a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and the motivation to serve highly vulnerable populations, in alignment with FH’s core values. Knowledge of social mobilization techniques for behavior change, experience training health volunteers and teachers, the ability to communicate in local languages, and willingness to live in the district are all considered valuable. Understanding how non-governmental organizations operate is also a strong advantage for this position.
