Save the Children International (SCI) is recruiting 25 stevedores to support logistics operations linked to the Nourish to Learn project, with openings split between Matola (23) and Magude (2). This role is essential to ensure the receipt, handling, loading, and unloading of food products for the project warehouse and beneficiary schools in Maputo Province.
What this role involves
The selected stevedores will handle goods such as 50 kg bags of fortified rice, 50 kg bags of yellow split peas, and boxes of cooking oil weighing approximately 23 kg. The work includes unloading containers into the warehouse in Matola city, as well as loading and unloading trucks and other internal vehicles serving the Magude warehouse and schools covered by the project.
For consistency in pay calculations, the organization states that 2 boxes of oil should be treated as equivalent to 1 bag weighing 50 kg.

Profile that fits the role
7th grade education or equivalent minimum schooling.
At least 1 year of experience as a stevedore in warehouses or port operations is preferred.
Basic knowledge of occupational health and safety.
Ability to handle, organize, and stack bags and boxes carefully while maintaining a steady pace of work.
Fluency in Portuguese.
Ability to work well in a team, meet daily targets, and perform under supervision.
Experience using a pallet jack and a bag sewing machine will be considered an advantage.
