Servtec SBM is recruiting an HSE Supervisor for a onsite role in Pemba, in an Oil & Gasenvironment, under a 28/28 rotation. This is a field role, with strong operational presence on site, focused on HSE compliance and direct intervention on unsafe behaviors, hazardous conditions, and the safe execution of activities.

Important: this is not an administrative vacancy. The professional will be expected to follow operations in the field, reinforce safety standards without compromise, and ensure operational discipline across all fronts under their supervision.

Job Opening – HSE Supervisor – Pemba

Role overview

The HSE Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring strict compliance with Health, Safety, and Environment requirements in onshore activities. The role requires hands-on experience in HSE supervision, field control capability, and command of systems, procedures, and indicators linked to operations in industrial and petroleum environments.

Key responsibilities

  • Apply and enforce HSE standards, procedures, and requirements in the workplace.

  • Supervise contractor and operational team activities, ensuring compliance with the required standards.

  • Carry out daily HSE inspections and field observations.

  • Lead risk assessments, including JSA and toolbox talks.

  • Ensure compliance with the Permit to Work (PTW) system and the safe execution of field activities.

  • Identify unsafe acts and unsafe conditions, intervening immediately and effectively.

  • Participate in incident reporting and investigations.

  • Contribute to root cause analyses (RCA) and to the definition of corrective and preventive actions.

  • Keep HSE reports and site documentation updated and reliable.

  • Promote a strong safety culture aligned with the project's operational objectives.

Mandatory requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, HSE, Environmental Sciences, or an equivalent field.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Oil & Gas, including at least 3 years in field roles in environmental or HSE areas.

  • Proven experience in onshore operational environments, including industrial, construction, or oil and gas site settings.

  • Proven experience in HSE supervision and field oversight.

Valued technical knowledge

  • Good knowledge of HSE Management Systems.

  • Knowledge of ISO 14001 and HSE compliance frameworks.

  • Familiarity with Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).

  • Exposure to environmental survey and monitoring methodologies.

  • Experience in environmental monitoring and environmental data analysis.

  • Experience implementing HSE management systems on worksites or sites.

Differentiators

  • Experience in remote onshore operations, preferably in Africa.

  • Experience in large Oil & Gas projects.

  • Training or certifications in EIA methodologies, environmental monitoring systems, or advanced HSE programs.
