The Transformative Opportunity: Warehouse Assistant (2 Vacancies)

We are looking for dedicated individuals to join our team in two strategic Warehouse Assistant positions. One professional will be allocated to our warehouse in Matola and the other in Magude, both playing a fundamental role in goods management. Your contribution will be essential for the effective and transparent implementation of our programs, directly impacting the lives of thousands of children and their families.

The Impact of Your Contribution: Essential Responsibilities

As a Warehouse Assistant, your mission will be to ensure the integrity and traceability of all goods under Save the Children's custody. This role requires meticulous attention to detail and an unwavering commitment to operational excellence.

• Comprehensive Goods Management: You will be responsible for overseeing the reception, storage, inventory, and dispatch of all goods, ensuring that processes align with the rigorous standards of the organization and donors.

• Accurate Accounting and Reporting: You will maintain detailed and accurate records of all goods movements, producing clear and consistent reports that reflect the warehouse's reality for the project Nourish to Learn.

• Maintenance of Robust Systems: You will actively contribute to the maintenance and optimization of warehousing, dispatch, and documentation systems, ensuring they are efficient, secure, and foolproof.

• Anti-Fraud Commitment: You will determinedly implement and enforce all anti-fraud measures and policies, protecting resources intended for children and maintaining Save the Children's integrity and credibility.

The Profile We Are Looking For: Qualifications and Competencies

We seek professionals with a combination of solid education, relevant experience, and strong alignment with our organization's humanitarian values.

Academic Background and Professional Experience

• Education: A Secondary Education level is an essential requirement. Preferably, we value candidates with a Bachelor's degree in areas such as business, management, accounting, economics, agriculture, development, or related fields, as these backgrounds offer a robust foundation for the complexity of the role.

• Essential Experience: A minimum of 3 years of proven experience in a related field is essential, ideally within a non-governmental organization (NGO) focused on commodity warehouse management. This prior experience is crucial for quick and effective adaptation to our operations.

Key Skills and Commitment

• Integrity and Anti-Fraud: Demonstrating a strong personal and professional commitment to combating fraud and mismanagement is essential.

• Communication and Interpersonal: Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, in Portuguese are crucial, as are robust interpersonal skills to interact effectively with various stakeholders.

• Resilience and Flexibility: Proven ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and adapt to flexible hours in humanitarian emergency situations, including availability for short-term travel when required.

• Desirable Experience: Prior experience with US Government food aid programs, familiarity with USDA regulations, or a demonstrated ability to quickly learn donor compliance standards will be a significant advantage. While English proficiency is not a mandatory requirement, intermediate written and oral communication skills in this language are considered a valuable asset.
