Save the Children International is recruiting 1 Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning and Accountability (MEAL) Manager for Matola. This is a central role to ensure that programs produce reliable data, generate useful evidence for decision-making, and strengthen the quality of interventions that impact child well-being. The opportunity is intended exclusively for Mozambican citizens.

What this role involves

The MEAL Manager will be responsible for providing technical leadership in monitoring and evaluation, coordinating processes that enable information to be collected, analyzed, and used consistently throughout the program cycle. The focus is not only on producing data, but on its practical use to improve results, support program decisions, and strengthen learning mechanisms.

  • Lead the monitoring and evaluation strategy and plan for a large-scale program.

  • Supervise the M&E team and align its work with program management and learning.

  • Ensure effective feedback cycles based on evidence and critical analysis.

  • Coordinate with program evaluators and other relevant technical teams.

  • Ensure high standards of integrity, data quality, and sound management.

Desired profile

The organization is seeking a senior profile, with a strong technical foundation and proven experience in leading programs or field teams.

  • Master’s degree or equivalent qualification in a quantitative field, such as Economics, Statistics, Public Health, or Applied Sociology, with relevant training in quantitative methods and at least 8 years of professional experience; or

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field, with training in quantitative methods and at least 10 years of relevant professional experience.

  • Proven experience leading M&E/MEAL in large-scale programs.

  • Technical knowledge of monitoring, evaluation, and learning applied to food security, nutrition, school feeding, and/or education programs.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in Portuguese and English, including effective interaction with teams based in the United States.

  • Availability for frequent travel and to work under pressure when required by the context.
