Africa Global Logistics Moçambique, S.A is strengthening its leadership team and is looking for a highly qualified professional for the strategic position of National Shipping Manager. The Impact of the Function: More than Management, It's Strategic Vision

The Country Shipping Manager is not just an operational manager; is the architect of the organization's navigation strategy in Mozambique. This function plays a pivotal role in commercial success, assuming responsibility for the strategic coordination of all shipping agency operations.

Day-to-day operations involve ensuring that each operation — from the arrival of a ship to the departure of a cargo — is carried out with the highest standards of efficiency, safety and quality of service. You will be the focal point for shipowners, shipping lines, charterers and import and export customers, transforming logistical challenges into value solutions.

You will be the one to ensure that the company not only responds to market demands, but also anticipates them, creating sustainable competitive advantages.

Main Responsibilities and Scope of Activity

Your responsibilities cover the entire life cycle of maritime and commercial operations. The expectation is that you:

  • Define and implement the development strategyof the Shipping business in Mozambique, mapping the market and identifying paths for growth.
  • Develop and strengthen high-level commercial relationships with Shipowners, Shipping Companies, NVOCCs, Charterers and Cargo Owners, expanding the customer base.
  • Identify and capitalize on new opportunities in the critical sectors of Oil & Gas, Mining, Agriculture, Project Cargo, Containerized Cargo and Solid and Liquid Bulk.
  • Lead strategic commercial negotiations and expand shipping agency and ship representation activities, with a focus on financial results.
  • Promote integrated logistics solutions, taking advantage of the company's entire value chain and multimodal capabilities to offer a complete portfolio to the customer.
  • Coordinate the interface with port authorities, customs, immigration, maritime authorities, terminal operators and other regulatory entities.
  • Ensure the preparation and execution of all operational and commercial documentation, ensuring compliance and speed.
  • Manage relationships with strategic clients, ensuring compliance with contracts and maximizing satisfaction and retention.

Excellent Financial and Operational Management

In addition to commercial leadership, the Manager will be responsible for the financial health of the area. It will be your responsibility:

  • Develop and manage the annual budget for the Shipping area, with a focus on efficiency.
  • Closely monitor revenues, gross margin, EBITDA, operating costs, accounts receivable and cash flow, ensuring business viability.
  • Ensure full compliance with national and international maritime legislation, in addition to Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (SSAQ) standards.
  • Ensure the implementation of effective risk management and business continuity practices, protecting the organization and its interests.

The Profile We Are Looking For: Experience, Competence and Leadership

To take on this challenge, we need a professional with an impressive resume and a leader's mentality. The minimum requirement is 15 years of proven experience in the maritime and shipping industry, with at least 5 years in senior management roles.

Practical experience in Mozambique — specifically in Maputo, Beira, Nacala and Pemba — and/or in the Southern African region is highly valued, as we know the reality of the local market.

The ideal candidate has solid experience in Shipping Agency, Project Logistics, Oil & Gas and Port Operations, with absolute mastery in:

  • Management of maritime operations and chartering.
  • High-level financial management and commercial negotiation.
  • Contract management and complex risk analysis.

Language Training and Skills

A Master's degree in Shipping, Transport, Business Management or closely related training area is required. Fluency in Portuguese, English and French is mandatory for effective communication with global partners and local teams.
