The Save the Children International (SCI) is recruiting a Supply Chain Officer for Pemba, Cabo Delgado. This is a key role to ensure that procurement, transport, and fleet management support the organization’s programs with speed, control, and compliance. The position is suited for professionals with experience in logistics and transport who can work with discipline, organization, and attention to internal and donor rules.
What this role involves
The professional will support the Supply Chain Coordinator in monitoring procurement processes, from issuing purchase requests to preparing purchase orders and updating the procurement tracker daily. They will also have a direct role in the operational management of the fleet of vehicles, motorcycles, and generators.
Monitor purchasing and procurement processes
Issue purchase requests and prepare purchase orders
Update the procurement tracker daily
Plan travel and control fleet movement
Support maintenance, repair, and safe use of vehicles, motorcycles, and generators
Ensure compliance with SCIMOZ and donor policies and procedures

In a humanitarian context, a well-run supply chain has a direct impact on program response. This role helps ensure that goods, services, and transport are available at the right time, with the necessary document control and in line with the organization’s standards.
Beyond the procurement component, the role requires close follow-up of field logistics operations, with a focus on efficiency, safety, and continuity of support to teams and program activities.
Profile that fits the role
SCI is looking for candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in Logistics and Procurement, Accounting, or related fields and at least 2 years of proven experience in Logistics and Transport. It is essential to have a valid driver’s license, experience in staff management, basic mechanical knowledge, and proficiency with IT tools such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, email, and Internet.
Experience in international NGOs, knowledge of supply, warehousing, purchasing, fleet management, and administration, as well as experience with IT systems, preferably SAP, will be an advantage. The role also requires strong organizational skills, discretion in handling confidential information, initiative, negotiation, flexibility, and willingness to respond to operational demands outside normal working hours when necessary.
It is also important to communicate well in Portuguese, both orally and in writing, and to have basic knowledge of English. Alignment with Save the Children’s values, objectives, and principles, including rights-based approaches, is an important part of the expected profile.
