Save the Children International (SCI), a non-profit humanitarian organization dedicated to child protection and well-being, is recruiting 2 Warehouse Assistants for Matola. This is a permanent position within the project’s goods team and is suited to professionals with hands-on experience in warehouse operations, loading, stock arrangement, and supporting warehouse cleanliness. For this vacancy, only Mozambican citizens will be considered.
Role overview
The Warehouse Assistant provides day-to-day support to logistics operations, with a focus on handling, organizing, and preserving goods. The position combines loader duties with cleaning support responsibilities, helping ensure the warehouse runs smoothly, materials remain secure, and the team can work efficiently. The role also requires close attention to internal procedures and a strong commitment to fraud prevention within the project.
Key responsibilities and practical expectations
Carry out loading, unloading, stacking, and movement of bags, boxes, and other items.
Support the ongoing cleaning and organization of the warehouse.
Work closely with the goods team on the project’s operational routines.
Strictly follow anti-fraud control and prevention measures.
Be available to work flexible hours whenever operations require it.
In the event of a serious humanitarian emergency, be available to work beyond the usual scope of the role and adapt working hours as needed.
Candidate profile
Completed primary education.
At least five years of relevant professional experience in the field.
Basic knowledge of OHS (Occupational Health and Safety).
Agility, attention to detail, and the ability to handle and stack bags and boxes safely.
Fluency in Portuguese.
Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and team spirit.
Availability to work flexible hours.
Availability and willingness to travel frequently.
Commitment to Save the Children’s values and principles.
Experience in handling a pallet jack and a bag sewing machine will be considered an advantage, as will speaking the local language and being able to interact directly with the target group.
