Pathfinder International is hiring for a vital operational support role in Sofala under the Reproductive Justice for All project. This position combines safe driving, administrative support, warehouse logistics, and procurement assistance, with direct impact on the teams’ day-to-day operations and the efficient delivery of programme activities.

About the role

The main purpose of this position is to ensure the driving, maintenance, and safety of the organization’s vehicles, as well as the responsible, efficient, and high-quality transport of people and goods. The role also includes support with administrative tasks, checking warehouse materials, and working closely with the logistics, finance, and procurement teams.

The Sofala project responds to the need to expand access to Comprehensive Abortion Care in the public health system, with a focus on 10 of the province’s 13 districts. In this context, the role requires strong organization, discretion, strict compliance with procedures, and a high sense of responsibility.

Key responsibilities

  • Drive Pathfinder vehicles safely, in full compliance with traffic laws, speed limits, and internal transport policies.

  • Ensure vehicle documents are always up to date and promptly report any need for renewal or servicing.

  • Check oil, fuel, battery, tyres, brakes, headlights, and other basic mechanical conditions on a daily basis.

  • Record all trips in the logbook and ensure the proper use of fuel cards, including invoice tracking and expense reconciliation.

  • Transport authorized staff, visitors, correspondence, parcels, and materials safely and on time.

  • Support administrative tasks, including external document delivery and banking services requested by the finance team.

  • Assist with the receipt, dispatch, and verification of materials, including checking warehouse inflows and outflows and carrying out periodic stock counts.

  • Support procurement with the delivery of hard-copy RFQs, collection of quotations, pickup of goods from suppliers, and submission of documentation for filing and processing.

  • Immediately report accidents, breakdowns, or maintenance needs to the supervisor and follow the organization’s established procedures.

Profile and requirements

  • Completed Grade 10 education.

  • At least 5 years of experience as a driver in an organization.

  • Valid professional driving licence.

  • Good spoken and written communication skills in Portuguese.

  • Ability to work with people from different nationalities and backgrounds.

  • Self-reliance, initiative, and willingness to carry out a variety of duties related to the role.

  • Strong discipline in the use of financial and administrative resources, with ethical, transparent conduct aligned with institutional standards.

  • Commitment to environmental and social safeguarding standards, respect for human rights, social inclusion, and gender equity.
