A TotalEnergies is hiring a Buyer for Maputo, in a full-time, on-site role. This position is suited to professionals with intermediate experience in purchasing, sourcing, and supplier management, who can operate in a demanding operational context with strong dependence on imports, pressure on deadlines, and the need for rigorous processes.
Role overview
The Buyer will be responsible for leading procurement processes for goods and services, ensuring a balance between cost, quality, delivery time, and compliance. The role requires constant interaction with internal teams, approved suppliers, and procurement tools, with a focus on reliable execution, correct documentation, and support for business continuity.
The working context in Mozambique brings concrete challenges for the purchasing function, including scarcity of foreign currency, exchange-rate volatility, requirements for advance payments and bank guarantees from international suppliers, as well as capacity limitations in part of the local market. For this reason, the company is looking for someone with sound judgment, negotiation skills, and strong command of purchasing workflows.
Key responsibilities
Source and procure goods and services, requesting, comparing, and negotiating quotations with approved and credible suppliers.
Review and approve purchase requisitions in My eProc, ensuring correct material codes and compliant supporting documentation.
Manage tender processes, including alignment with internal areas, preparation of documentation, and launch on e-sourcing platforms.
Evaluate received proposals, support the award process, and ensure complete filing of process documentation.
Maintain competitive supplier panels, with at least three qualified suppliers per category on the approved list.
Update supplier master data, such as contacts, bank details, and activity status, and prepare the annual approved supplier list.
Carry out annual supplier evaluations and visits to monitor performance, compliance, and improvement opportunities.
Produce monthly purchasing and due diligence reports, as well as track savings recorded in AGORA.
Provide support to users of the My eProc, SAP and Primaveratools, while also ensuring proper segregation of duties.
Support HSSE and compliance requirements, including anti-corruption practices and adherence to applicable legal obligations.
Desired profile
Knowledge of SAP MM in the purchasing function.
Experience with My eProc, Ariba (e-sourcing), AGORA and Primavera.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with particular relevance to Word, Excel, and professional internet use.
Ability to analyze information, make decisions, and work accurately within formal purchasing processes.
Knowledge of negotiation techniques and purchasing in an industrial or production environment.
Strong organization, attention to detail, and resilience when working under pressure and tight deadlines.
Fluency in Portuguese and English, spoken and written.
Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work with different areas and stakeholders.
