Impact and Strategic Responsibilities of the Role

As a Senior Underwriting Technician, your main mission will be to ensure that each risk accepted contributes positively to the company's portfolio. This requires not only in-depth technical knowledge, but also keen commercial acumen and high-level negotiation skills.

Main Responsibilities

• Underwriting and Technical Assessment of Complex Risks: Analyze highly complex insurance proposals, assessing the quality of the risk, the adequacy of coverage and the proposed terms, ensuring alignment with the risk appetite and current regulatory standards.
• Portfolio Monitoring and Profitability Analysis: Continuously monitor the financial performance of underwritten risks, identifying trends, opportunities for improvement and areas of potential risk that could affect the health of the portfolio.
• Reinsurance Process Management: Act as a focal point in the structuring and negotiation of reinsurance treaties and optional operations, ensuring the efficient transfer of risks and optimizing capital costs.
• Issuance and Conversion Control: Supervise the entire quote issuance cycle, from technical preparation to their conversion into policies, ensuring accuracy, competitiveness and speed in the process.
• Management and Relationship with Stakeholders: Build and maintain solid and lasting relationships with brokers, direct clients and reinsurance partners, positioning yourself as a trusted technical advisor and strategic partner.
• Compliance and Continuous Improvement: Ensure that all subscription operations strictly comply with internal and regulatory standards, actively contributing to the optimization of processes and innovation in the area.

Technical Requirements and Experience

• Solid Academic Training: Degree in Actuarial Sciences, Insurance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering or related scientific areas.
• Professional Certifications: Possession of relevant certifications in the insurance sector, with the Diploma of the CII (Dip CII) and/or the Associate Member of the CII (ACII) being highly valued.
• Proven Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in underwriting or technical analysis roles in the insurance sector.
• Exceptional Analytical Skills: Strong ability to perform quantitative analysis, interpret complex data, and make informed decisions under pressure.
• Communication and Leadership Skills: Excellent communication, negotiation skills and ability to lead technical processes and influence internal and external stakeholders.
• Fluency in English: Fluent command of the English language (written and spoken) will be considered a significant advantage, given the international nature of the reinsurance business.
