Strategic Risk and Sustainability Analyst Maputo

Absa is hiring a Strategy Risk Officer in Maputo. Role overview

The Strategy Risk Officer reports regularly to the Head of Strategy Risk and supports matters related to strategic risk and sustainability risk. The work delivered in this role contributes to materials and analysis presented to forums such as the CMC and the Board, helping align risk, planning, and Absa’s growth ambitions.

This is a technical position focused on analysis, monitoring, and coordination of regulatory and internal deliverables related to risk management.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and support appetite reporting and the related analysis.

• Monitor the risk landscape and identify emerging risks with potential business impact.

• Take part in stress testing exercises, whether regulatory, internal, or group-wide.

• Support matters related to capital buffer and integrated planning.

• Contribute to the Risk Management Programme in the regulatory context.

• Support delivery of the ICAAP in both regulatory and group contexts.

• Collaborate on the preparation and review of Risk Appetite Statements.

• Support Market Discipline initiatives in line with regulatory requirements.

• Coordinate the local review of macroeconomic variables.

• Manage deliverables related to sustainability risks within the country.

Candidate profile

Absa is looking for a professional with training in Business, Commerce and Management at Certificate of Education and Vocational Training (FETC) level, as stated in the job posting. Confidence with technical analysis, recurring reporting, regulatory frameworks, and collaboration with teams working across planning, capital, sustainability, and risk governance will be especially valuable.
