The Essential Role of the Telehandler Operator

As a Telehandler Operator, you will be the centerpiece in the movement and management of materials on construction sites, industrial facilities and infrastructure projects. Your main responsibility will be to operate the Telehandler safely and efficiently, ensuring the transport, lifting and positioning of various loads with maximum precision. This role requires not only technical skill, but also a deep understanding of security regulations and the ability to anticipate and mitigate risks.

You will be a key player in coordinating with ground teams, ensuring that loading and unloading operations run without interruption and within established deadlines. Basic preventive maintenance of the equipment and clear communication of any anomalies will also be part of your daily routine, ensuring the longevity and good functioning of the Telehandler.

Detailed Responsibilities and Performance Expectations

• Operate the Telehandler with mastery, carrying out tasks of lifting, moving and positioning heavy and large loads with safety and precision.
• Ensure compliance with all safety protocols, including pre-operational verification of equipment, use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and appropriate workplace signage.
• Interpret construction plans, technical drawings and work instructions to perform material movement tasks effectively and in line with project objectives.
• Maintain constant and clear communication with supervisors, logistics teams and other operators to optimize workflow and avoid conflicts or accidents.
• Perform routine daily inspections of the Telehandler, checking fluid levels, tire pressure, operation of hydraulic and electrical systems, and immediately reporting any faults or maintenance needs.
• Efficiently manage time and resources to meet delivery and material movement schedules, demonstrating proactivity and ability to adapt to unforeseen events.
• Actively collaborate with the maintenance team to schedule and supervise the performance of preventive and corrective maintenance, ensuring the continuous operability of the equipment.
• Maintain an accurate record of hours of operation, loads moved and any relevant incidents or observations as required by company procedures.

Fundamental Requirements for Success in the Role

Essential Qualifications:

• Valid Telehandler Operator Certification: Hold a Telehandler operator certificate valid for more than 1 year, attesting to your training and technical qualifications.
• Proven Experience: Minimum of 3 years of solid experience operating Telehandlers, with proven preference in industrial, civil construction or Oil and Gas sectors.
• Driving License: Hold a valid driving license for the category applicable to the operation of heavy vehicles and industrial equipment.
• Literary Qualifications: Completion of the 12th year of schooling or equivalent, demonstrating a solid educational basis for understanding technical procedures and standards.

• In-depth knowledge of operational safety standards and emergency procedures.
• Ability to perform basic preventative maintenance and identify potential mechanical problems.
• Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to follow instructions accurately.
