KUGARISSICA Association is a Mozambican Non-Governmental Organization, autonomous and non-profit, dedicated to development, the eradication of endemic diseases and the defense of human rights in communities. With a mission based on the values ​​of honesty, active participation, transparency, solidarity and justice, the organization is looking for committed professionals to join its WASH project.

We are recruiting six (06) Community Facilitators to work directly on the ground, promoting essential behavioral changes in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene. Impact and Challenges of the Role

The Community Facilitator role is the backbone of any successful WASH intervention. You will be the bridge between technical knowledge and daily practice for families. Your day to day life will be dynamic and full of interaction, requiring a unique combination of empathy, technical knowledge and community leadership skills.

Strategic Objective

Your main objective will be to promote positive and lasting behavioral changes related to water, sanitation and hygiene. This will be achieved through constant community mobilization, ongoing awareness raising and direct training of residents, contributing in a measurable way to reducing the incidence of preventable diseases.

Main Responsibilities

To achieve the project objectives, you will be responsible for a diverse set of activities, which include:

  • Mobilization and Awareness:
  • Conduct practical educational sessions on personal hygiene, correct hand washing technique hands, safe water treatment and storage. Raise awareness among families about the crucial importance of using and properly maintaining latrines.
  • Promotion of Good Practices:
  • Facilitate the adoption of adequate sanitation and effective solid waste management methods, organizing community meetings and health education campaigns.
  • Technical and Institutional Support:
  • Strengthen local water and sanitation committees, encouraging participation active community and systematically identifying challenges in accessing basic services.
  • Monitoring and Information Management:
  • Collect accurate data on activities and results, keeping detailed records and regularly reporting to the supervisor on progress and needs identified in the field.
  • Inclusion and Collaboration:
  • Ensure that women, men, young people, elderly people and people with disabilities actively participate. Work closely with community and religious leaders and other local power structures.

Ideal Candidate Profile

We are looking for a proactive professional, with solid training and a deep commitment to serving the community. Previous experience in similar contexts will be an important differentiator.

Training and Experience Requirements

  • Complete Secondary Education (12th grade) is mandatory.
  • Training in Community Health, Health Promotion, Community Development or related areas constitutes a competitive advantage.
  • Proven experience in community mobilization, health promotion or activities social.
  • Previous experience in WASH programs is highly valued.

  • Excellent ability to communicate ideas clearly and facilitate dialogues with diverse groups.
  • Teamwork:
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with different community partners and maintain good organization.
  • Technical Knowledge:
  • Understanding of the fundamentals of water, sanitation and hygiene.
  • Data Management:
  • Ability to collect, organize and report field information.

Qualities Personal

  • Unquestionable integrity and genuine respect for communities.
  • Dynamism, initiative and proactivity in the field.
  • High cultural sensitivity and ability to adapt.
  • Total availability for frequent travel within the intervention area.

Languages

  • Fluency in Portuguese (mandatory).
  • Knowledge of the local language of the intervention community is highly desirable.

Indicators of Success

Its performance will be evaluated based on tangible results that directly impact the community:

  • Number of awareness sessions carried out and quality of interaction.
  • Reach and number of families involved in WASH activities.
  • Level of community participation in the actions promoted.
  • Verifiable adoption of new hygiene practices and sanitation.
  • Quality, punctuality and usefulness of the reports submitted.

This profile is ideal for community projects implemented by NGOs, local associations and government Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) programs.
