The KUGARISSICA Association, a Mozambican Non-Governmental Organization with administrative and financial autonomy, is recruiting 06 (six) Community Facilitators for its WASH project in Beira. Mission and Impact of the Role

The WASH Community Facilitator is the backbone of project implementation on the ground. This is not just an operational function, but a strategic role of community leadership and promoter of social change. The professional will assume responsibility for translating public health policies into tangible, daily and sustainable actions in the region's communities.

The impact is direct and measurable: the prevention of endemic diseases, the improvement of quality of life and the defense of human rights to access to basic resources. This is work that requires passion, resilience and a deep cultural connection to communities.

Main Responsibilities and Daily Challenges

Your daily actions will involve a dynamic combination of education, mobilization and monitoring. You are expected to be a proactive change agent sensitive to local needs.

Community Mobilization and Awareness

  • Health Education: Conduct interactive educational sessions on personal hygiene, correct hand washing techniques, treatment and safe storage of drinking water.
  • Infrastructure Promotion: Raise awareness among families about the importance, correct use and maintenance of latrines and basic sanitation.
  • Environmental Management: Promote good sanitation and solid waste management practices to avoid contamination and disease.
  • Facilitation: Organize and facilitate community meetings and health education campaigns, ensuring the active participation of all segments.

Support for Strategic Project Implementation

    li>Institutional Strengthening: Support the training and strengthening of water and sanitation committees, enabling them for autonomous management.
  • Community Engagement: Encourage active and continued community participation in WASH activities, creating a culture of shared responsibility.
  • Needs Identification: Identify, analyze and report critical challenges related to access to water, sanitation and hygiene in your area of intervention.
  • Participatory Methodologies: Support the implementation of innovative and participatory approaches to behavior change.

Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting

  • Data Collection: Collect accurate information about the activities carried out and the results achieved in the field.
  • Documentation: Maintain complete and up-to-date records of awareness sessions, including participants, topics covered and impacts observed.
  • Operational Reporting: Regularly report to the supervisor on the progress of activities, challenges encountered and needs identified in the community.

Inclusion and Collaboration

    li>Social Equity: Ensure the equal participation of women, men, young people, the elderly and people with disabilities in all activities.
  • Local Partnerships: Work closely with community leaders, religious leaders and other local structures to maximize the reach and acceptance of the project.

Minimum Requirements and Ideal Profile

We are looking for professionals with the right profile to navigate challenging community contexts and generate real impact.

Academic Training

  • Mandatory: Complete secondary education (12th grade).
  • Desirable: Training in Community Health, Health Promotion, Community Development or related areas is a significant advantage.

Professional Experience

  • Proven experience in community mobilization, health promotion or social activities.
  • Previous experience in WASH programs is an important advantage.

Technical Skills and Social Skills (Soft Skills)

    li>Communication and Facilitation:Good oral and written communication skills, with the ability to facilitate groups and processes.
  • Social Adaptability: Ability to work effectively with different community groups, cultures and social realities.
  • li>Domain Knowledge:Solid basic knowledge in water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH).
  • Information Management: Ability to collect, organize and report data in a clear and structured way.
  • Organization and Teamwork: Good personal organization, proactivity and robust team spirit.

Essential Personal Qualities

  • Professional Ethics: Unwavering integrity and deep respect for the community and its values.
  • Dynamism and Initiative: Proactive profile, with the ability to take initiatives and solve problems in the field.
  • Cultural Intelligence: Cultural sensitivity and ability to empathize with local realities.
  • Flexibility: Total availability for frequent travel within the intervention area.

Linguistic Competence

  • Mandatory fluency in Portuguese.
  • Knowledge of the local language of the intervention community is highly desirable and valued.

Performance and Success Indicators

Your performance will be evaluated based on concrete results that demonstrate the impact on communities:

  1. Number of awareness sessions carried out with quality.
  2. Number of families reached and engaged by WASH activities.
  3. Level of participation and community involvement in the actions promoted.
  4. Evidence of improvement in the adoption of hygiene and sanitation practices.
  5. li>Quality, punctuality and usefulness of the reports submitted.
