At this time of expanding our social impact, as part of the implementation of the WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) project, we intend to recruit 06 (six) Community Facilitators with a high profile for Community Intervention. These vacancies are based in the province of Sofala, a region with profound needs for civic and health intervention. The Community Facilitator will be the face of Kugarissica on the ground, acting as the key link between the organization and beneficiary families, ensuring that good practices are adopted in a sustainable and culturally appropriate way.

Strategic Objective of the Role

The person occupying this position will have the primary mission of promoting positive and lasting changes in behavior related to water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH). This transformation will be achieved through assertive community mobilization, deeply structured awareness sessions and continuous training of local communities.

The Facilitator is intended to be an agent of disease prevention, contributing in a direct and measurable way to the improvement of regional public health. The success of this function translates into the adoption of new daily habits by families, from systematic hand washing to the safe management of solid waste. Your work will save lives and raise the standard of human dignity in the intervention areas.

Main Responsibilities and Field Activities

Community Mobilization and Awareness

  • Conduct dynamic educational sessions on personal hygiene, correct hand washing and the safe treatment and storage of drinking water;
  • Raise awareness among families, door-to-door and in groups, on the critical importance of the proper use and maintenance of improved latrines;
  • Actively promote good basic sanitation practices and community solid waste management, reducing outbreaks of preventable diseases;
  • Facilitate community meetings and health education campaigns, ensuring that the message reaches all social strata in a clear and persuasive way.

Technical Support for the Implementation of Health Activities WASH

  • Support the training, capacity building and institutional strengthening of local water and sanitation committees, making them self-sustainable;
  • Encourage active and voluntary community participation in all phases of WASH activities, from planning to execution;
  • Identify, analyze and promptly report challenges and barriers related to access to water, sanitation and hygiene;
  • Support the implementation of participatory approaches and innovative approaches to behavior change, adapted to the local cultural context.

Monitoring, Evaluation and Data Reporting

  • Collect rigorous information on the activities carried out and the impactful results achieved in the field;
  • Keep detailed and organized records of awareness sessions, characterizing the participants involved;
  • Report regularly to the hierarchical supervisor on the progress of activities, emerging needs and strategic recommendations;
  • Use data collection tools to ensure the reliability of information shared with project coordination.

Promotion of Inclusion and Community Equity

  • Ensure the transversal participation of women, men, young people, the elderly and people with disabilities in all promoted activities;
  • Work in close and respectful collaboration with community leaders, traditional authorities, religious leaders and other local structures of influence.

Minimum Academic Training Requirements

  • Complete secondary education (12th grade), with satisfactory achievement;
  • Additional training or certification in Community Health, Health Promotion, Community Development, Rural Sociology or related areas constitutes a highly competitive advantage.

Desired Professional Experience

  • Experience proven in community mobilization, health promotion in BaseContext or activities of a social nature;
  • Previous experience in WASH programs, implemented by NGOs or government entities, will be considered a strong advantage.

Technical and Interpersonal Skills

The ideal candidate must have a balanced combination of soft and hard skills. Public communication and facilitation skills must be excellent, combined with natural empathy to work with different community groups. A solid basic knowledge of water, sanitation and hygiene is required, as well as analytical skills to collect, organize and report field data. Good personal organization and team spirit are non-negotiable.

  • Absolute integrity and deep respect for the dynamics and cultures of the community;
  • Dynamism and own initiative to propose creative solutions in the field;
  • Cultural sensitivity refined to navigate complex social contexts;
  • Availability full for frequent travel and field work within the intervention area.

Language Requirements

  • Fluency in the Portuguese language, both written and oral;
  • In-depth knowledge of the local language predominant in the intervention community is highly desirable, facilitating trust and dialogue.

Performance Indicators (KPIs)

The Facilitator's success Community health will be rigorously measured through the following indicators:

  1. Volume and quality of awareness sessions carried out in the field;
  2. Effective number of families reached and impacted by WASH activities;
  3. Level of community participation and involvement in the actions promoted;
  4. Sustained improvement in the adoption of hygiene and sanitation practices in the community;
  5. Quality, accuracy and punctuality of activity reports submitted to supervision.
