Huawei Technologies Mozambique, Limitada is opening the Project Manager position, a full-time role based in Maputo, with applications accepted until 6 November 2026.
The Project Manager is the professional who ensures that site construction, network deployment, and equipment installation and commissioning are delivered on schedule and within budget. The role combines fieldwork — monitoring construction, verifying quality and safety on site — with office work, where project reports are prepared, costs are managed, and project documentation is kept up to date.
It is a coordination role between technical teams, suppliers, local operators, and public authorities, and the ideal candidate must be equally at home on the construction site, working with subcontractors, and in meetings with senior management and commercial partners. The original posting does not include a salary range.
Key tasks: manage the construction of sites, network deployment, and equipment installation and commissioning for multiple products — wireless, transmission, core, and data — within the telecom infrastructure project; develop project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource plans, and track progress and manage risks.
Coordinate with local operators, government authorities, suppliers, and subcontractors to secure permits, sites, and approvals; lead and manage local project teams and subcontractors, monitoring on-site construction quality, safety, and compliance.
Serve as the key liaison with local clients and partners, handling communication, negotiations, and issue resolution; prepare regular project reports for senior management and the client; manage project documentation, acceptance, and handover.
Control project costs, drive compliance with contract milestones and payment collection; ensure compliance with Mozambican laws and regulations, HSE standards, and company policies.
In terms of competencies, the role values: the ability to lead diverse teams and resolve conflicts; 5 or more years of project management experience in the telecom industry, of which at least 2 years managing telecom projects in Africa; experience in Mozambique or other Portuguese-speaking African countries is preferred.
The posting also asks for knowledge of telecom network construction (BTS/RF/optical fiber/transmission preferred); PMP or equivalent certification is a plus; the ability to tailor communication styles for technical and executive audiences; strong analytical skills for root-cause analysis; the ability to negotiate with vendors, stakeholders, and team members to achieve project goals; and organizational ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with attention to detail.
Formal requirements: a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; fluent English, both written and spoken; and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Advanced Microsoft Office skills and proficiency in project management tools.
Applications are made exclusively by email, directly to Huawei's recruitment address. The CV must be sent in English to recruitmenthr@huawei.com, with the subject line "Project Manager". The deadline for submitting applications is 6 November 2026.
