We are recruiting a Compliance Officer for Maputo, focused on preventing legal, operational, and reputational risks while strengthening a culture of ethics, integrity, and internal control. This role is well suited to professionals with hands-on compliance experience who can track regulatory requirements, support audits, and ensure the company’s processes remain aligned with applicable standards.

What this role involves

On a day-to-day basis, the Compliance Officer will play an active role in verifying adherence to internal policies and applicable regulations, helping identify gaps, reduce risk exposure, and strengthen control mechanisms. The role also requires close oversight of internal processes, analysis of non-compliance issues, and ongoing support to business areas on regulatory matters.

  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and applicable regulations;

  • Monitor and assess compliance risks across company processes;

  • Implement and oversee compliance and internal control programs;

  • Support anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing activities (AML/CFT);

  • Prepare compliance reports and escalate non-compliance issues;

  • Support internal and external audits;

  • Promote compliance training and awareness initiatives;

  • Track legislative changes and support their implementation;

  • Ensure compliance with KYC (Know Your Customer) procedures;

  • Collaborate on the review and continuous improvement of internal policies and procedures.

The profile that fits this opportunity

We are looking for candidates with a university degree in Law, Management, Economics, Accounting , or related fields, along with 3 to 4 years of professional experience in Compliance, which is a mandatory requirement for the role. Experience in the financial or insurance sector will be an advantage, as will knowledge of sector-specific legislation and familiarity with AML/CFT.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field;

  • Proven Compliance experience;

  • Knowledge of AML/CFT is preferred;

  • Basic computer skills from a user perspective, including MS Office;

  • Ethics, integrity, precision, and a strong sense of responsibility;

  • Analytical ability, critical thinking, and attention to detail;

  • Strong communication skills, autonomy, and a team-oriented mindset.
