Bonatti operates in the oil and gas and construction sectors, and is present on site in Afungi, in northern Cabo Delgado, supporting local operations. The department you will lead works on two fronts: it monitors contracts from the office and is on the ground at the job site, where decisions are made alongside project teams. By taking on this role, you will join one of the busiest projects in the country, with daily interaction with senior management, clients, subcontractors, and external consultants.

What you will do

• Translate tendering phase reviews into contractual requirements, provide the tendering department with the risk assessment they need, and take a seat at the table during negotiations and proposal closings;
• Draft the contract management guidelines applied by the department, tailored to the specifics of each contract;
• Walk alongside execution with project managers, area leads, and procurement: client letters, variation orders, claim negotiations, subcontracts, and purchase orders;
• Bring project partners to the table and lead the respective agreements through to signing;
• Manage disputes with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers — first through direct agreement, and through courts or arbitration with external counsel when that route is exhausted;
• Functionally direct the quantity surveyors and site contract administrators, with special attention to onboarding newcomers;
• Monitor contractual performance indicators, map risks and opportunities, and uphold ethics, compliance, and risk management throughout execution;
• Provide the senior management team with an updated overview of contracts — risks, opportunities, and legal exposure — and coordinate with finance, procurement, and technical teams to ensure project documentation speaks the same language.
