Manager and Supervisor CV: What to Put and How to Measure
Manager, supervisor or director CV: what carries weight, how to measure results, the errors that eliminate a senior application, and ready-to-adapt examples.

If your career is in management, a manager's CV is not read like a technician's: the recruiter is looking for measured achievements and proof that you manage teams and budgets. The question to answer on the first page is simple: what was your result, in how much time, and with what impact?
A manager, supervisor, or director CV changes the benchmark: fewer generic skills, more dated numbers. In the Inademy Guide, here is what carries weight, how many pages you can justify, the errors that eliminate a senior application, and rewording examples ready to adapt to your results.
The short answer
Before you write, the essentials in 30 seconds:
- Measured achievements first: "increased X from Y to Z in N months", never a list of duties.
- Quantified teams: the number of people you led and the shifts in which you operated.
- Budget and P&L in MZN: the amount you managed, rounded if confidential.
- Role KPIs: 3 to 5, each with starting value, ending value, and time period.
- Pages: one for supervisor, two for director — the exception to the one-page rule.
- Tools with results: SAP, advanced Excel, or ERP, each linked to a concrete improvement.

What carries weight in a management CV in Mozambique
The Mozambican manager competes for positions in sectors paying above average — mining, oil and gas, logistics, banking, hospitality. The CV must prove that you are worth the cost of your position: teams, budget, and results. The reading order is the same across four blocks: profile, measured achievements, teams and budget, KPIs.
The profile opens with 2 to 3 lines: sector, team size, and biggest achievement. Then come measured achievements, each in the format "increased X from Y to Z in N months". KPIs close it out: choose 3 to 5, with starting value, ending value, and time period. Without a date, the number is not an achievement; it is an anecdote.
Budget and P&L are written in MZN: "managed a P&L of 3M MZN" or "reduced costs by 400 thousand MZN per month". Sector cost context helps in the interview — in manufacturing, for instance, the minimum wage is 10,622.50 MZN (AIM, 28-04-2026), and mentioning this shows you are attuned to the business.
Tools occupy one line: SAP, advanced Excel, ERP. Each linked to a result — "closed the month in the ERP in two days instead of five" — rather than a list of proficiencies.
Experience comes with dates: start, end, and duration. In management roles, gaps between functions are scrutinised more than in technical profiles — an 8-month gap calls for a line of context. Without dates, the recruiter cannot calibrate the weight of the "12 years" you claim to have.
One or two pages: the rule in management
In management, two pages are acceptable: it is the exception to the one-page rule for junior profiles. What decides is not the job title, but the weight of management experience.
Go with one page if you have up to 5 years in management roles, if you are a supervisor, or if your career is linear within a sector. The space forces you to stick to the essentials: profile, three measured achievements, teams, KPIs, and education in two lines.
Go with two if you are a director, if your management spans across sectors, or if a board of directors is involved. The second page brings detailed KPIs, key structural projects, and education; biography stays out. If a director fills 3 pages, they edited poorly.
Page two has its own logic: the first delivers the story (profile, achievements, teams), the second delivers depth (KPIs by role, projects, education). Anyone pushing the chronology to a third page loses the exact space where the recruiter looks for financial metrics.
Supervisor, manager, or director: what the recruiter looks for in each
Mozambican job ads use the three titles almost synonymously; expectations, however, differ. Write what you are, at the scale you operate:
- Supervisor — execution: teams of 5 to 15 people, shifts, process compliance, and daily reporting to the manager. The recruiter wants to see operational discipline and shift results.
- Manager — P&L and teams: decisions impacting cost, sector KPIs, and a 12 to 24 month horizon. The bar rises to margin, cash flow, and bottom-line results.
- Director — strategy: annual budget, organisational structure, board of directors, and financial KPIs with governance. The CV proves business acumen, not just process management.
If you were a "senior manager" and not a director, write what you were. An inflated title gets exposed in the interview — and it is the mistake that kills an application.
Typical manager errors on a CV
Experience brings its own blacklist. Four errors recur constantly:
- Job description instead of achievements: "responsible for the team" says nothing; "increased production by 12% in 6 months" says everything.
- Generics without numbers: "team leadership", "results management", "strategic vision" — without X, Y, and Z, these are words everyone writes.
- Inflated titles: a supervisor self-titled manager, or a manager signing off as director. The recruiter checks with the previous company.
- Company results claimed as your own: "revenue grew" is market performance; "the department I managed grew 18%" is yours.
Generic CV errors — from photo to layout — are covered in the guide errors that eliminate your CV and what to put instead. In management, the error is more subtle: missing numbers where they were expected.

From a weak phrase to a phrase with numbers: 3 rewordings
Three pairs to calibrate your writing. All numbers below are fictitious; in each, notice the label: example — replace with your own numbers.
- Weak: "Responsible for factory production." With number: "I lead 14 people across 2 shifts; increased production from 310 to 350 units per day in 4 months." (example — replace with your numbers)
- Weak: "Stock management and purchasing." With number: "Reduced inventory losses from 6% to 2.5% of stock in 12 months, within a 1.8M MZN P&L." (example — replace with your numbers)
- Weak: "Supervision of the sales team in the south of the country." With number: "Managed 9 stores in the south: revenue grew 18%, from 1.2M to 1.4M MZN, with the same team." (example — replace with your numbers)
The pattern is the same for all three: past action verb, starting number, ending number, and timeframe. Anyone reading knows within 10 seconds what you delivered.

Frequently asked questions
How many pages should a director's CV have?
Two, in practice: one with profile, measured achievements, and teams; another with detailed KPIs, key structural projects, and education. A supervisor fits on one page, unless operational experience is dense and recent.
My revenue numbers are confidential. What should I write?
Write the percentage change, not the absolute figure: "revenue in my department grew 18% in 12 months". Relative metrics preserve confidentiality while conveying the same message to the recruiter. If there is no public baseline, round the P&L: "3M MZN".
I've never held a formal management position. Can I apply for supervisor?
Yes, if you have the equivalent experience: you coordinated a project, temporarily led 4 to 6 people, managed a shift or a counter. Describe the function you performed rather than the missing title — and measure the results as if the title existed.
Does a management CV in Mozambique differ from an European one?
It differs in two details: a passport photo (2x3) and references remain common practice here; in European formats, photos are generally omitted. The rest — measured achievements, teams, P&L, KPIs — remains the same; the standard is global. Basic rules for Mozambican CVs can be found in the guide what to include in a CV: photo, ID, place of birth, and references.
What to write in a manager CV summary?
Two to three lines: sector, team size, and biggest measured achievement, ending with your fit for the role. "Production management with 12 years of experience, team of 40 people, reduced costs by 11% in 18 months" — the rest of the case is built in the body of the CV.
In summary, what to do today
- Rewrite your profile in 2 to 3 lines: sector, teams led, largest measured achievement.
- Convert each achievement into the format "increased X from Y to Z in N months".
- Quantify teams (people, shifts) and budgets (MZN) across all management roles.
- Select 3 to 5 key role KPIs, with starting and ending values.
- Fill out the management CV template in Word or PDF and review it through a recruiter's eyes: does every number have a start, end, and timeframe?
- Submit your CV in PDF format, update your profile, and apply for management jobs on Inademy.
