2 Financial Assistants — INE (Maputo)

The essentials: The National Institute of Statistics (INE) is recruiting two Financial Assistants for the PRESADC project in Maputo. Applications must be submitted exclusively in person at the INE General Secretariat by 3:00 PM on October 2, 2026.

About INE and the project

INE is the official institution that produces statistics in Mozambique. For this recruitment, the institute received funding from IDA — the World Bank institution dedicated to development — to implement the SADC Regional Statistics Project (PRESADC).

The two positions created serve this purpose: to strengthen the financial capacity of the project implementation unit (PIU), with the level of control, transparency, and compliance required by World Bank fund management. Hiring follows the Special Regime of Decree No. 79/2022.

What you will do

The job involves direct support to the project's Financial Specialist. On a day-to-day basis, you will:

• support the Financial Specialist on a technical and operational level, especially in executing the PIU's financial management;
• support project financial management activities, maintaining efficiency standards in processes;
• work together with the team to ensure transparency and internal control in operations;
• comply with World Bank fiduciary procedures in applying funds;
• perform the duties detailed in the Terms of Reference, available at the INE General Secretariat or at ine.gov.mz/concursos.

Selection follows the qualification comparison process outlined in the World Bank Procurement Regulations (6th edition, February 2025), paragraphs 7.36 to 7.39.

Conditions

Hiring is as an individual consultant, with direct funding from IDA/World Bank. Remuneration is defined in the final stage of the process: the technical and financial proposal is submitted at this stage — only the most qualified candidate is invited to submit it and negotiate the contract.
