Since December 2017, the non-profit organization African Parks Network manages the park in co-management with the Government of Mozambique, through ANAC.

This conservation entity assumes the long-term management of protected areas in partnership with governments. For the operation in Bazaruto, the team needs leadership for the commercial agenda, aiming to generate revenues to fund conservation and bring direct benefits to local communities.

What you will do

In the day-to-day of this role, your work will be divided between office tasks, field presence, and negotiations with partners. Your responsibilities include:

• Develop, update, and implement the park's Tourism Development Plan and annual commercial plans, setting budgets, timelines, and performance indicators;
• Contribute to the elaboration of the annual business plan and five-year budget, including revenue projections, commercial investment priorities, and financial estimates;
• Drive the park's tourism marketing and promotion strategy, coordinating communication materials, media presence, events, and contacts with tour operators;
• Identify and create tourism products, facilities, and experiences aimed at enhancing park visits and increasing the value generated by activities;
• Ensure the secure and traceable operation of billing and payment systems, ensuring proper reconciliation with financial records in coordination with finance and administration areas;
• Lead, guide, and supervise tourism, revenue, communications, and visitor services teams, setting objectives and maintaining quality control;
• Manage obligations and relationships with concessionaires and tour operators, following up on renewal, regularization, or contract renegotiation processes with the support of legal teams;
• Ensure the regular operation of the Chizunguni Visitor Reception Center and park access control posts;
• Liaise with conservation, research, and environmental teams to ensure that tourism activities fully respect biodiversity protection requirements;
• Produce commercial and management reports, reporting revenue irregularities, risks, or delays, and maintain updated databases on visitors, concessions, and revenue.
