Commissioning Lead — SAIPEM (Palma, Cabo Delgado)

The essentials: a Commissioning Lead position on the CCS JV Mozambique LNG project, with SAIPEM (Global Projects Services AG). The assignment begins at the Milan office, Italy, for approximately 1 year, and then moves to the Afungi camp, Cabo Delgado, for approximately 2 years, with the possibility of extension.

You will ensure the execution of home office activities related to pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, test runs, training, operation, and handover of the plant to the client, in accordance with contractual requirements and project objectives regarding safety, quality, budget, and schedule.

The CCS JV Mozambique LNG project involves natural gas in northern Mozambique, based in Afungi, Palma district, Cabo Delgado.

Who we are looking for

SAIPEM is looking for a Commissioning Lead to lead the commissioning and handover of the facility to the client, first at the Milan office and subsequently at the Afungi camp. SAIPEM states that it operates in sometimes challenging and extreme environments, with a strong focus on people's health and safety and the preservation of the natural environment.

Day-to-day responsibilities

• Review contractual documentation and ensure that pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, training, and operation requirements are integrated into engineering documents;
• Participate in project planning and scheduling; prepare and keep up to date the execution plans for pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, test runs, training, and operation, including personnel mobilization;
• Supervise the preparation of pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, training, operation, and handover procedures and manuals;
• Review test procedures (performance tests) and operation manuals;
• Review and/or define the schedule and assignment of technology licensors and vendors for pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, test run, training, and operation activities;
• Support the service procurement and subcontracting department in defining the scope of subcontractors;
• Supervise the integrated schedule and define the specific temporary logistics required, developing control tools and methods;
• Participate in project review meetings to ensure compliance with commissioning and operation requirements;
• Support the HSE manager in preparing the overall HSE plan and verify the pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, test run, and operation HSE plan;
• Participate in HAZOP review meetings whenever necessary;
• Ensure the preparation and verification of purchase requisitions (PRs) and technical evaluations within your scope of responsibility;
• Review the 3D model for compliance with pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, and operation requirements, as well as for accessibility and operability;
• Define commissioning systems and handover priorities;
• Define and review spare parts and commissioning consumables;
• Ensure verification of KPIs during home office activities;
• Support the vessel in compliance with national and international laws (classification society, IMO, SOLAS, ISPS code, MARPOL) during the operational phase.
