IUCN — International Union for Conservation of Nature — is a union founded in 1948 by governments and civil society organizations.
It is the world's largest and most diverse environmental network: over 1,400 member organizations and around 16,000 experts. IUCN produces and provides conservation data, assessments, and analyses.
It also creates a neutral space where governments, non-governmental organizations, scientists, businesses, and communities work together to solve environmental problems and achieve sustainable development.
In Mozambique, IUCN operates from the country office in Maputo and the ESARO Mozambique program, within the framework of the MozWater project, IUCN's water program in Mozambique.
The Communication and Marketing Officer vacancy is within this program. You will support the teams and MozWater in communication, knowledge management, and marketing, in coordination with the Regional Communication and Marketing Manager, ensuring that project communication and marketing requirements are met on time and within allocated budgets.
We are looking for someone to produce high-quality communication and marketing pieces: publications, brochures, policy briefs, web stories, press releases, multimedia content, and social media posts.
The work requires rigor: each piece must follow IUCN's communication and marketing guidelines and protocols, and be delivered on schedule and within the allocated budget. You can work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and produce quality documents in a short time.
If you enjoy seeing a program gain visibility in the media, at events, and with partners, this role is for you.
You will report to the IUCN Mozambique Country Representative. On a day-to-day basis, responsibilities cover six areas:
In a broader context, you will develop and implement communication and marketing approaches that position IUCN Mozambique's programs, expertise, and knowledge products among government institutions, development partners, civil society, academia, the private sector, media, and the general public.
You will also profile the country office as a relevant player in nature conservation and its use for the country's sustainable development. The work follows the office's strategy, aligned with Regen Africa and the IUCN 2030 global program.
