What you will do day-to-day
Based in Pemba and reporting to the Country Director, the role covers the management of internal and external communication and project visibility:
- Develop and execute the communication strategy and program work plans, including campaigns, events, and visibility initiatives.
- Produce country office fact sheets, briefing materials for dignitary visits, annual program reports, and newsletters.
- Identify and document real beneficiary stories through interviews, photographs, videos, and case studies showing the impact of actions within communities.
- Research, fact-check, edit, and produce professional content for dissemination across the organization's channels and external media, nationally and globally.
- Draft talking points and strategic messaging for the country office and communications leads at regional and head office levels.
- Capacity-build staff in communication techniques, providing training resources and best practice guides.
- Ensure compliance with donor contractual visibility requirements, preparing reports and materials aligned with each funder's guidelines.
- Maintain an updated contact database of journalists and media outlets, responding to requests and maintaining dialogue with newsrooms.
- Create crisis communication plans with defined protocols for timely information sharing in emergency situations.
- Prepare and manage the budget allocated to the organization's communications area.
- Work in coordination with program and PMEAL teams to gather information and data to feed communications actions.
- Contribute to the implementation of the Code of Conduct and safeguarding policies, promoting zero tolerance regarding exploitation, abuse, and harassment.
