BCP (BioCarbon Partners) is an African organisation specialised in developing REDD+ projects, sustainably financing the conservation of forests and wildlife through carbon markets. Its mission, often repeated and delivered on the ground, is to make wildlife habitat conservation valuable to the people who live alongside it. The scale shows up in the numbers BCP itself presents: projects verified under the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) —
in 2021, the only one in Africa with eight consecutive verifications and the second in the world to reach that milestone — and the first African project to earn CCBA Triple Gold certification, for its impacts on climate, communities and biodiversity.
BCP is now strengthening its team in Mozambique with a Conservation Coordinator, based in Maputo. This is the person who turns the strategy for protecting the project's community areas into a daily operation: field teams trained and supervised, monitoring systems running, communities engaged and government counterparts kept close. A coordination role for someone who likes to see results on the ground —
fewer encroachments, data arriving on equipa and communities that gain from a standing forest.
Notice the shape of the role: half is leading people — training, supervising, bringing partners together — and half is data and systems rigour. Whoever fits well here moves naturally between a community meeting and a monitoring report.
We want someone with a solid track record in conservation in Southern Africa, who has already trained community field teams and can handle audits, reporting and external partners without losing operational pace. The exact list of required experience — years in the field, monitoring tools and the REDD+ context —
sits in the requirements section of this listing; read it carefully before applying, because that is where BCP defines what it considers non-negotiable. If your experience lives more in the office than in the bush, this is probably not your role; if the opposite is true, go ahead.
Honesty first. The announcement mentions a "competitive salary" but does not publish figures — if you reach the interview, ask openly; that is the right moment. It also does not state the contract type or benefit details. Everything else in this listing comes straight from the announcement: the role, the responsibilities, the required profile, the application channel and the deadline.
Only shortlisted candidates will be called and, if you receive no reply within 30 days, the application should be considered unsuccessful — those are the announcement's own rules, reproduced here exactly as written.
Prepare your application in English — the language required by the announcement — with three pieces: curriculum vitae, cover letter and the contacts of three references. Send everything by email to glrpjobs@biocarbonpartners.com — the subject line must read Conservation Coordinator Maputo, exactly like that. The deadline closes on 22 September 2026 (the announcement accepts applications from 8 to 22 September) —
send it early; deadlines wait for no one.

The announcement requires the CV, cover letter and references to be submitted in English. This is not a decorative criterion: the documents in this process are read in that language, so prepare the three documents as someone who knows they will be read by English speakers.
The announcement sets no minimum academic qualification, does not ask for a driving licence and lists no additional desirable requirements — the central criterion is the demonstrated experience in this list. We do not add requirements that BCP has not declared.
