The essentials: Heading Moçambique is recruiting a Datacom Engineer for Maputo. Apply by September 30, 2026 on Heading's official portal: heading.peoplenect.com (job_id 5817).

About the recruiter

Heading Moçambique is a recruitment agency. This position is open on behalf of an unidentified client — you do not need to know who it is to apply. What matters is the technical profile and the role itself.

What you will do

The work focuses on the operation and maintenance of MPLS networks in Maputo. You will handle alarms, failures, maintenance windows, and upgrades that must not disrupt the production network. Below is what the day-to-day includes:

• Analyze MPLS network performance, resolve complex issues, and optimize architecture.
• Install, configure, repair, and upgrade equipment; manage alarms and investigate failures in the MPLS network.
• Act as technical lead for datacom, coordinating with other departments, clients, and third parties.
• Manage the change management process for the datacom network, including operation, maintenance, and performance management.
• Execute daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance tasks, limiting impact on the production network.
• Troubleshoot basic and advanced transport layer issues, apply complex routing policies, and support production infrastructure with routers and switches.
• Verify and improve MPLS/datacom equipment utilization and performance during each maintenance cycle.
• Update solution documentation — HLD, DLD, LLD — with associated network diagrams.

The role requires autonomy: you will work with minimal supervision, make informed decisions, and manage stakeholders from different departments.

Conditions

• One position, based in Maputo.
• Salary: to be agreed upon with the company.
• Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
